Value property with renovated guest rooms, Wi-Fi near downtown Newport

It was our second stay at Howard Johnson, Middletown. Convenient and much more affordable lodging if you come to Newport. Would definitely stay there again.

Pool, hot tub, sauna, and small gym were all nice. Got a very good deal at $45 a night. Free coffee, ice, and water. The only thing it could of used was breakfast. I wouldn't recommend the attached Applebees high prices and very small portions. Motel was good though.

Wedding weekend
We were exhuasted after attending an all day and evening wedding on the cliffs of Newport! We arrived to our hotel around 10 p.m. and were treated with professional kindness. The hotel was very clean and spacious. Actually we were quite surprised at the condition of this hotel! We look forward to a longer visit to Newport and the surrounding area as it offered much more than we expected.

Convenient and Clean
Everything was great. I liked the location, it was affordable, everyone was nice. The only "complaint" was the pool. It was pretty dirty. It would not stop me from going again, but it could have been cleaner.

Perfectly Average
We booked four rooms for a group...one smelled pretty awful. The other three were ok. Nothing special, nothing bad. The location is far from restaurants and bars - too far to walk. Be prepared to schedule cabs, etc.

Look for restaurants downtown, not on the wharf. The food wasn't as good on the wharf...more of a scene there.

Extended Weekend Getaway
Picked hotel on line for its value, and its many positive reviews. Traveled with friends in separate rooms and we were all pleased with our rooms condition, staff was helpfull, not too far outside Newport, and restaurant attached was convienient for late snacks and drinks. Also near other businesses in town.

Great!
I stayed with a SO for a night to go to the bars in Newport, and the room was perfect for what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it was almost double the price a room would be outside of summer months, but nothing to fret over.
