Very good hotel, but 5 miles out of the city

The Philadelphia Hilton Hotel located at 4200 City Avenue is a good value as long as you don't object to a $20 cab ride back to the city. The staff was gracious and the breakfast buffet was fine. I liked the room, which was very comfortable. Because it's far away from the city, it's quiet.

Comfortable stay...

I love how large the hotel was and felt... I was in town for a big birthday bash that required theme like attire and I couldn't see my outfit in full view.. My only complaint is, no full length mirror in the room...

Not as close as you think

Any family thinking about using this hotel as a tourist base for the historic and cultural sights of Philly, and shopping, should reconsider. It is located more than ten miles from the Historic district. The highways to get to the Historic district are congested and tricky to navigate. Public transportation is so-so. When you get to where you want to go, on street parking is almost non-existent. There are no tourist attractions within walking distance of the hotel. You need a car to get to the Historic district, Museum district, Manayunk, Daffey's, Macy's, King of Prussia mall, Franklin Mills mall, Valley Forge and sports venues.

Unimpressive

We traveled to attend our daughters college graduation. Even though the reservation was for three people, and we made the reservation in January for May, we were told the only room available had a singe double- not even queen -bed. The customer service manager at the front desk did not even offer an apology. She had more of a take it or leave it attitude. When I asked for a rollaway I was told that, "yes, it could be provided - for an additional $15 per night." The hotel is clearly "dated" and sorely in need of some cleaning up and modernizing. All in all a dreary place to stay.

super snobby

YThe room and stay even the service was great. We were very upset when someone from management reprimanded a new employee for not having.g a machine cleaned the right way in front of us and other guest. The worst part of all was the manager couldn't tell the employee how to do it correctly. Making himself look like a bigger jerk!

Great Room

The hotel was located approximately 4 miles from Downtown Philadelphia. The neighborhood located does not have many restaurants to accommodate travelers, but the restaurant inside the hotel makes up for it. Only down part I had was parking. Travelers must park on the street which is very congested during high traffic times or pay $5 per usage for their self-parking lot.
