worst part were the elevators

overall the hotel and the rooms were nice and comfortable, but 4 elevators for a 24 story hotel, and every elevator goes to every floor was a bit ridiculous. our room was on the 12th floor and we had to wait ~20 minutes every time we wanted to leave the hotel just for the elevator to stop on our floor.

Hotel Rating

The hotel provides free printing as long as it is not enormous. The amenities were above average and the room has a big table where I can work with my computer. Very nice. A little far from the convention center but coming from NY, we are used to walking all the time. Overall it was a pleasant experience in the hotel. The room was very clean, staff were nice.

Philly family fun

The room was great, very clean, nice view! Staff was nice and helpful. However, I was told when booking that there was complimentary continental breakfast and it was not. After eating my "free continental breakfast" I was charged $37 for 2 meals! I was not happy at all about that but I did enjoy the room itself.

Great Location Great People

Upon arriving at the Doubletree 3 hours before the standard checkout time, the very nice woman working the front desk found a room that was ready and fit our reservation and set us up right away. The cookies are always a plus but the staff was outstanding and the high point for me. This hotel is walking distance to pretty much everything in Center City and in a very safe part of Philly.

Don't look for hospitality.

The hotel was definitely older and run down. The rooms were small. I'm pretty sure most of the staff have never heard of the word hospitality much less know how to exhibit it. We waited for a long item in the lobby to check in and to check out. That's without a line in front of us. The desk staff just went about their business occasionally looking up to see us, but not acknowledge us.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

A lot of restaurants were within walking distance, but most lacked hospitality or flavor to the food. The Perch Pub right next door was very good. Good service, good food and good drinks.

Fun weekend away

Hotel is in a great location in the heart of the city. Had a nice hot tub and indoor pool. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Beds were comfortable and higher level floors have great views of the city. Only problem is that with only 4 elevators, you could be waiting for one for a while.
