Great Location (and good for couples!)

When you first drive up, the hotel may look a little older (or "run-down") but once you get inside, the rooms are beautifully remodeled. They are very modern, cute, and comfortable! Our favorite part about this hotel was the location. You can walk everywhere!! We found that walking was useful because parking in Portland is not easy...especially when you go downtown. The hotel is right next to NW 23rd St. which is lined with cute shops and restaurants (make sure you visit Pacific Pie Company). The hotel is also a short walk to Washington Park (which is a huge park) but we explored walking paths, the playground, and a BEAUTIFUL free ROSE garden. Portland is actually famous for roses. Bring bug spray when you go to this park. The hotel is also a short walk to downtown Portland (where there are more shops and restaurants including a Whole Foods). My husband likes to run in the morning and Lincoln High School's track was very close too. This hotel does not have a fridge or a pool, but otherwise we had an amazing experience. They also have a free computer and printer in the main lobby, so you can check in for your flight and print your boarding pass before you go.

Great spot

I would definitely stay here again. 2 minute walk to Providence Park for the Timbers game. More than fair price <$90. Good clean room, comfortable beds, great location. Also 2-3 minute walk to numerous bars for pre/post game fun with no noise

Comfortable Stay

The hotel is located about 10minute walking distance from downtown Portland and had free parking which was a perk. Room was clean and check-in/check-out was easy. A bit on the pricey side for what it is, but still cheaper than locations in downtown. Friendly staff and free cookies/fruit/coffee/tea/multiple other drinks in the lobby at all times. Good location for someone who needs parking for a car, not too bad for someone without a car and wants to save some money.

Simple and Adequate

Downtown was within walking distance (~15 min). Only stayed for one night, but the room was simple and adequate. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful.

Very good, no-frills hotel

Stayed in the Hotel part (not the Inn) so it was just two beds, a dresser, tv, and washroom. No coffee, no extras, but that was okay. Very clean and well taken care of, close enough to downtown to walk, but also close enough to a few other areas of Portland to allow for some exploring.

Just the Essentials

Everything we needed but not much more! The rate was great, and all the basics were there. The location was perfect for us, and Washington Park (the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden) was especially walkable. We also really enjoyed NW 23rd Ave - lots of great shops and restaurants. As others have said, the room is a simple hotel room, but that's all we needed. We don't travel for the hotel!

Not bad overall

This was a nice place to stay as far as area goes - not in a sketchy location and in fairly close location to most shops and restaurants. It was a little to "modern" to me however, and didn't necessarily provide that "right at home" vibe. Staff was always nice and attentive however.

Be sure to go down 23rd street while staying here. This was a little gem that I didn't discover until the end of our stay.

Impressed

For the price it doesn't get much better. We asked for a room at the back of the inn and got the last one. A great view. You are only a couple of blocks from Knob Hill and bus/train transportation. You can walk downtown. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Friendly Staff and great location

We stayed at the Park Lane for our first visit to Portland. The staff were uniquely and sincerely friendly. I think I want to hang out with them after our trip! The location was perfect. We walked everywhere. We did not have a rental car and definitely did not need it with the location. Rooms were clean an comfortable. Perfect for a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring.

Portland, OR

The hotel room in the inn across the street was okay, but it had silverback bugs in the room, which would create a huge pest problem if some snuck into our luggage and came back home with us! Portland itself was awful. There are thousands of homeless people in the parks and streets. It was the worst vagrant problem we've ever seen, and we have traveled all over the world. We likened it to a third world country. It was so bad that we actually checked out early and left the city after only one night at Park Lane Suites and Inn. I know that the vagrant problem doesn't have much to do with this hotel, but it's location meant we had to walk past it several times a day. We walked to Voodoo about a mile away, and a homeless woman lifted her dress and peed heavily on the sidewalk right in front of us! When we took a bus back to our hotel in the afternoon (after a historical bike tour), a young man, who was clearly overdosing on drugs, collapsed in the bus doorway and began heaving and convulsing, causing the bus driver to call 911. So we got out and walked over a mile back home in silent shock. That was enough for us. We promptly checked out and left Portland as soon as possible. We are currently enjoying a nice, clean, extra night on our road trip back east toward home, in Boise. My advice to future road travelers: spend extra time in Seattle, or somewhere else nearby, and omit the trip through Portland.
