Nice quiet stay in the city!

Fabulous! We enjoyed our stay. The staff will do anything to help. We had a room on the 11th floor away from the elevator - very quiet and a nice view of the park. This hotel does not host parties and is therefore nice for a quiet stay. The in-room complimentary shampoo, etc. is wonderful as well (smells like lemon!). Highly recommended and within walking distance of Powells, Burnside, Saturday Market, etc.

Nice place to stay alone

I enjoyed staying here, and just have a few suggestions, better channels on the tv (no tv land or hallmark) and put room service doorknob menus every nite in room, not only on check-in night.

Loved the location! Wonderful staff.

Was looking for a location that was affordable but that put me in good walking distance to everything downtown. It was truly perfect- great shops and restaurants around and you couldn't beat the $1.00 streetcar rate that took me north to check out the Pearl district and east across the river. Concierge made sure I was always taken care of and the girls up front who were so nice when my flight delayed my check in and made sure I had everything I needed. Loved them! I also really loved the park across the street- not grassy but good seating and fun people watching.

Great hotel

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Paramount for 3 nights while visiting Portland. It was a great experience: the hotel is a small enough size to feel cozy, but big enough to have full amenities. The staff was friendly and courteous without being intrusive. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well-stocked with complimentary coffee and tea. There is free Wi-Fi that's fast and easy to access. Best of all, the location is fantastic, with easy access to restaurants and shops on foot, as well as the light rail a block away. Highly recommended!

Food of all kinds is just a block or two away: frozen yogurt, Starbucks, Japanese, Italian, and much more. There's also a park and a movie theater across the street.

excellent stay in downtown portland

No complaints, great location, short walk to pioneer square, Powell's etc. Didn't matter to us that their restaurants are undergoing renovation. There are plenty of places to eat in walking distance.

Excellent location, super quiet (most of the time)

The Paramount's location can't be beat. Centrally located in downtown and just a block off the MAX light rail and Portland Streetcar corridors, making it super convenient to affordably get to/from the airport and many other places. Most Downtown attractions are all in walking distance. Upper level rooms offer excellent skyline views. The hotel has a really great silence policy--basically no extraneous noise, like parties in rooms, is tolerated. Makes for a remarkably quiet stay for a city center hotel... but currently with a catch... while the hotel itself is quiet, there's a tower currently being built across the square from the hotel. If you're a late sleeper or an afternoon napper, you might find some of the construction noise a bit annoying. Currently the Paramount lacks an in-house restaurant and fitness club due to renovations but they still offer breakfast room service and a service to order out from other restaurants, as well as passes to the fitness center at the nearby Hilton. The location and relative affordability though made the current reduced amenities a non-issue, and the rooms themselves are quite nice and spacious--loved that they include a sizable refrigerator (great if you're stocking up on the awesome local craft beers!).

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't waste money on taxis, especially to the airport. Buy yourself a Tri-Met pass (sold in vending machines at pretty much all light rail stations) and use Portland's excellent mass transit. The light rail takes only a few minutes longer than a cab ride and takes you right from the front of the hotel to the airport terminal. Most of Portland's mass transit routes converge within a couple blocks of the hotel.

Nice, safe downtown Portland

Great hotel that is right where I needed it. Staff posted at hotel entrance that were ready to help is a nice comforting feeling of safety. Only two minor negatives, maid service removed dirty towels but forgot to replenish & in house restaurant under construction & allowed to use jack hammer at 7am. It will be nice when new restaurant opens inside hotel.
