Good Place to stay
It was very good. The courtesy van picked me up from the airport and I was resting within minutes. Very Convenient.

Good place to stay near Portland airport
Room shape was a bit wierd but I'm sure this is not the issue with other rooms. Overall stay was good, good breakfast, clean rooms/surroundings.

Portlanded at PDX
Compared to other Holiday Expresses
I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express at OHare Airport the night before the one at PDX, and the one at PDX is so much nicer. The towels were all folded nicely. The climate control was way better. (the one at OHare was very cold and the heat was max'd). The location is very easy to navigate from the i-205 (the exit literally takes you to all the hotels' front doors. At OHare we drove around for a long time before we found the hotel. You are a quick 20-30 minute drive to anywhere in the metro area. I like how the bathroom had a heat lamp over the shower. I was very comfortable the 2 nights I was there.

The city is divided into quadrants. Street signs that say NE, NW, SE, SW refer to the part of town you are in. The larger the number street, the further you are from the river. North and South are divided by Burnside Rd. and East and West are divided by the Willamette River (pronounced wil-`AM-it).

oh where to start?
First, the people we encountered on our stay there were fabulous--from the desk personnel to the mini-van drivers! Pleasant, professional, polite, helpful and went out of their way for us. Too bad the rest of the hotel didn't live up to that high mark. The room was large, pleasant, clean. And warm. Granted...it's Portland, OR and November. But our only window, in a tiny corner around from the beds, etc., looked out onto a roof and a parking lot and cornered directly to the room next door. Weird. But ok--we weren't there for the view. Unfortunately the air conditioner was under that window, in the tiny corner. That meant the air had to move around the corner to our bed. Not happening. The front desk responded extremely fast to my request for a fan, and that helped a lot. The other major problem was the bathtub. Not only did the drain move so slowly that my feet were almost covered (they were in the middle between faucet and back of tub), but the tub was so slick that I was really concerned about slipping. There is only one grab bar, and that's at the front of the tub by the faucet. Another one above the soap dish would have relieved that fear or at least made me feel safer. We liked the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Portland Airport better for the money. But the people at the Holiday Inn Express WERE remarkable! Perhaps in a different room, with a better draining and less slick bathtub, we would have been as happy there.

Shari's Restaurant, despite the fact that it sounds like a Denny's, was clean, newer and the servers were very nice and attentive. I had several salads that were really quite good, especially the steak salad. Very reasonable. And yes, you can leave without buying dessert or a whole pie!

good, clean, and easy.
Great place for overnight stay for making transfers to other flights. Extra comfy beds, clean rooms, on time shuttles, easy check in. Would book again for sure.
