Location is Everything
The hotel was convenient, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was complimentary and such a treat. It was cafeteria style and all you can eat. There was even a complimentary beer and wine happy hour at the end of the day. The location was a bit sketchy. Just 2 blocks over is the Burnside bridge which is pleasantly known as skid row. In the other direction is a rather lovely cultural area with quiet brownstone buildings and art and history museums. Parking was expensive and you get charged every time you leave the lot. Plan on leaving the car there and using public transportation. Valet is also a better option.

Great Portland Hotel
I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The staff, everyone from the front desk staff, maids, breakfast servers and valet parking attendants, were professional, friendly and accommodating. I am extremely particular about room cleanliness and this Embassy Suites in downtown Portland came close to receiving a perfect score. The room was extremely comfortable, nicely decorated but the view out my window was a rooftop (and noisy) HVAC system. On the other hand, the morning breakfast was excellent - and even included healthy alternatives to eggs, bacon and pastries (yes, they scrambled egg whites for me and had low-fat yogurt!) When I visit Portland, I like staying downtown, as it is central to all of the neighborhoods that I like. The parking charges (valet) seem a bit high and although there is a slightly cheaper self-park option in a building across the street, I didn't feel safe parking and walking in/out of the building alone. None-the-less, I highly recommend this hotel.

Weekend trip
The hotel was clean, however the staff wasn't helpful and unable to provide information. The pool and hot tub were undergoing renovation so not open the majority of our stay which was frustrating. The night reception was very nice, as was the breakfast. The location was amazing

Perfect Stay for My First Visit to Portland
This was the combination of perfect location & comfort for my first visit to Beautiful Portland Oregon. Great suite, very nicely appointed, comfortable and safe. The staff were fantastic, very professional & helpful. The only downside to my stay was the free breakfast. If you want a great breakfast, visit the Bijou Cafe across the street. Ideal place to stay for a weekend get away, I couldn't have been happier.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Breakfast at Mothers Bistro is worth the visit. A short four blocks away, the wait is worth it. Try Mama Mia's for dinner & Voodoo Doughnut is right around the corner.

You would figure that at a higher end place.. where you pay higher end prices.. that wifi internet would be included...oh well. other than that it was great. :o)

Great girl's night out
Spent a girls night out in Portland with my sister from out of town and had a blast. Room was clean, staff was courteous and we were walking distance to Saturday market and Powell's Bookstore. The manager's reception was great; had a few drinks and snacks before we headed out for dinner and more drinks. Highly recommend the Embassy.

Embassy Suites Portland
What a surprise. Abandon your stereotyped idea of what an Embassy Suites hotel looks like - this is a nearly 5 star hotel, well located near the Pearl, China Town and Downtown areas of Portland, and occupies a beautifully renovated old hotel - the Multinomah. They still have a free breakfast and afternoon Manager's Happy Hour, but they need to work on the lighting the space they use for it - but a real find!

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Use Portland's free downtown trams/trolleys/trains to get around - and visit the Art Museum and Powell's Book store - all within easy walking distance. Check our "Silk" and "Veritable Conundrum' restaurants and of course Oregon Pinot!

Nice, historic, massive place.
I would have given it 5 stars if the place wasn't surrounded by 'Gentleman's Clubs' and homeless begging from what seemed like every doorway within a block or two. Went for a short stroll looking for a place to eat, found the area unpleasant after dark and decided to have dinner at Prime, the restaurant there at the hotel (very good btw), excellent service. Close to the Saturday Market, convenient valet parking ($30 per day), and close to waterfront. Room was well adorned, clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast the next morning (included with room) was impressive, worth paying a little more for this place.
