Screaming Deal
I always struggle with the extra charge for internet in better hotels, as less expensive hotels make this free. Breakfast was beyond the typical bad buffet, and included items off the menu (though we had to point this out to the waitress, who would have preferred we do the buffet). Parking was an extra fee, which we were not aware of, but because we got such a great deal ($70 per night with a special online deal) it was no big deal. Loved the bar vibe (and the cookies, of course).

Good location, spacious
The location is nice: it's right off the streetcar at the beginning if the downtown free-fare zone. So, it's easy to get to from the airport by the streetcar and then easy to get to the rest of the city from there. The room was spacious, with a nice view, the curtains closed completely and easily doing a reasonable job of blocking the light. There is an outdoor pool (closed for the season when we were there) and no free breakfast nor free internet (except in the small business center in the lobby), things that were difficult to discern from the hotel's website.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you're traveling outside of the free fare zone, be sure to get to the stop a little early to buy your tickets (the fare machines are surprisingly slow). Don't want to miss your train while you're getting tickets, especially for the ride back to the airport in the weekend when the train isn't so frequent!

Great Hotel
What was so great? Location close to the free train to downtown PDX, friendly and helpful staff, awesome amenities, clean and up to date beds and furniture, WIFI access, parking (pay per day), and conveniently located to stores. Pretty safe neighborhood. A little more expensive, but it was worth it.

Worked for me
Room was spacious, well-appointed, room service was fine, staff helpful and welcoming, hotel is conveniently located across from a MAX stop for access (20 min, $2.40) to airport and downtown (15 min, free). Good eating on Broadway a few blocks away. No reason not to stay here. Only complaint was the HHonors wifi refused to talk to my iPad.

Heavenly...
From the customer service the moment you walk in the door to the spectacular views of portland fro the rooms, I was blown away. I have stayed at the Hilton in Vancouver too but this hotel is superior in many ways including that it is much quieter. Loved it and will stay again and would recommend it to anyone!
