Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Weekend

The Wolcott is a beautiful, historic hotel that is updated and well-kept. The lobby is beautiful. Our room was very clean and spacious for NYC. We liked the option of three twin sized beds for a group of 3. The check-in/out was very smooth and easy. Our luggage was stored on the last day at no cost. There were delicious muffins, coffee, and tea served each morning in the lobby. The hotel location is great....close to subway, Herald Square, Empire State Building. Our price was great especially for a holiday weekend. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Location, Location, Location

Old style hotel. Nicely maintained. Impressive and beautiful lobby. Room was very small but had high ceiling. Clean. Room was too warm so we slept with windows open which meant sirens and honking horns all night. Morning coffee and muffins in the lobby. However, served skim milk only for coffee, which made it undrinkable for us. What makes this hotel is its location. In midtown, off 5th Avenue, between the Empire State and Flatiron buildings. Not a bad experience but not good enough to seek this hotel specifically next time.

Great location

4 night stay for sightseeing, ideal location almost under the empire state building, short walk to times square, Rockefeller plaza etc. Small but clean comfortable rooms, free coffee and muffins at breakfast time. Not so good were shower ( hard to get right temp long enough to get a shower, but we were on 12th floor) and banging from central heating. Overall would recommend

Old Hotel with Charm

Dated hotel was charming. That said, the room near the elevator is smaller than the other rooms on the floor. Bathroom sink was the tiniest I've ever seen; difficult to use. Water temp. in shower hard to control (either boiling hot or fridged cold.). Maids were friendly. Front desk staff never asked how my room was; seems they do not care. The breakfast was charming.......get there early to avoid the crowds. Hotel centrally located. Easy walk to everywhere.

Great NY Hotel

Located two blocks from the Empire State building and walking distance to Penn Station, Grand Central Station and even Central Park ( Hotel is about 1.5 miles south of the Park.) We even walked to Times Square! The Junior Suite was just like the pictures. Pleanty of space in the bathroom and clean. Bed was comfortable and air conditioners worked great. No problem with noise. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

The Lion King completely lived up to expectations. The Wollcott is located about a mile away from Times Square- not too far to walk! No need for dinner reservation after the show on a weeknight- fantastic!

Fall New York Trip

We have stayed at this hotel at least 6 times now and the staff at the front desk is really hit or miss. Typically upon checking in from an all night flight we have had historically a grumpy person at the front desk ~ the hotel management needs to work on that. The bathroom on this particular stay was less than desirable and only one person could be in the room at once and you had to watch yourself and not hit your head on the sink when using the toilet. It seems that they got the coat closet and the bathroom measurements mixed up. You also had less than a foot between the bed and TV, therefore had to clomb over the bed to get to the other side of the room.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Very good shopping for accessories in the area that are comparable to the stores on Fifth Avenue, so you can save some money by starting out on W. 31st St. instead of buying at Bloomingdale's, Bendel's or Bergdorf Goodman. Even souvenirs are reasonable the closer you get to the hotel.

Can't beat the location!

You can't beat the location of this hotel--it's just around the corner from the Empire State Building, and it's within walking distance of Times Square. I found the location to be particularly convenient due to its proximity to so many subway stations. Can't beat it for the price. We've stayed at the Wolcott before, and we'll stay there again.

Ayza--a wine and chocolate bar--is right across the street from the hotel. It has fantastic food at a reasonable price. If you like beer, the Heartland is around the corner on 5th Ave. Great beer and good food.

Well Traveled here!

The hallways stunk literally. The ac in the room was old,, and I came down with allergys that ended me up almost in ER before leaving. I would sneeze when in the room,, and eventually came down with closed ears,, and very swollen throat. Water puddled in the tub shower window. Otherwise the bed was very comfy. I have stayed in many other hotels for same price with much better quality.
