A mixed review
Location perfect for walking into midtown Manhattan for shops and Central Park. Room very small, tired and dated but perfect as a base for a couple of nights sleep which is what we had paid for. Plenty of hot water and clean towels provided on a daily basis. Due to hurricaine Sandy, flights got cancelled and hotel were not particularly helpful or empathetic when we requested to extend our stay. We totally understood that everyone was in the same boat, but that 'typical' american customer service just wasn't there when we were told that they weren't taking any other reservations, despite that all airports were closed and so nobody could either leave or arrive into NYC and we were already their customers............overall, a bit over rated but they thrive on their location.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
The hop on / off city tour bus services are a lifesaver and very good value for money. 54$ per person allowed you to use the buses as many times as you liked over a 3 day period. It was a great way to navigate yourself around the major sights and shops without having to walk too far or missing sights by using the Subways. There was a guide on each bus who commentated as you drove along. We learnt something new on every trip!

Birthday Getaway
Well considering it was a good deal compared to other hotels in NYC i can't complain too much!! Took my girlfriend for her birthday, and was immediately disappointed with the room itself in as much as it was very small and very dated, however when in NYC you are rarely in your room and it was very clean and was attended to every day by staff. The location is superb, only a few blocks south of Central Park, two streets east of 5th Av and only a 10min stroll into Times Square.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Definitely use the subway and hop on hop off buses to get around manahttan, else your feet will literally kill you and ruin your holiday experience. The subway is cheap buy one metrocard for $20 and you can all use it $2.25 per ride per person and then top it up if you need to. Just be careful not to get on an 'express' sub make sure it is a 'local' or you will end up in the Bronx as we did!!

Good Place, Great Value
I booked for a single, but luckily got a suite with a single bed room and lounge area plus a kitchenette for the same price. The Room and Bathrrom was clean, comfortable. Internet in the room is unfortunately not complementary, nor was business center. The staff were alright, but perhaps I was expecting a bit more from a prestigious looking hotel.

Nice location, good price
The location of the Hotel is perfect. There are several diners just in front of it and around the corner, where you can eat breakfast or take something to eat with you. There is one subway station (q, n, r) just 5 meters away from the exit and another one only about one block away. But it is also possible to walk to the Times Square, MoMA or the Central Park in under 10 Minutes. Our room was pretty ok; the only annoying thing was the size of the bed, but on the other hand i have to say, that i am taller than the average person and have the same problem at most other hotels. One other thing is, that the rooms aren't soundproff at all. We could hear the "bing" sound of the arriving elevator everytime, because our room was very close to them. In summary, I would go there again immediately, if i visited new york again.

Our first family visit to New York
We had a great experience. We arrived early morning with very little sleep. The manager arranged to get us into a room at a much earlier time which was greatly appreciated. The staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful. We will definitely recommend the Wellington Hotel to all of our friends and family.

Pick another hotel...
Hotel is close to many interesting places, and metro station is right next door. Location is great but unfortunately hotel it's self if lousy. I travel to NYC 3 times a year for business and stayed in a lot of hotels and this is the worst one. My biggest complain is that hotel is dirty and i really mean dirty. Too many dirty things to list. Rooms and beds are very small and everything is VERY outdated. Construction outside is very loud and doesn't seem to be over very any time soon, so if you can't stand the noise at night pick another hotel. Elevators are slow and tiny so be prepared to wait a long time. Food in the hotels restaurant is horrible don't even try. I ordered a simple mean that was so bad that i barely touched it, just paid the bill and left. Pick another hotel even if location isn't as good. Metro stations are everywhere and it is very easy to get around. Hope it helps.

Great Location, Old Hotel
This is by far the best location in NYC I have ever stayed out. The rooms are old though. The closet made my clothes smell, no gym, restaurant sux. There are subway entrances all around this particular hotel, which is very nice. There are really good restaurants on the same block as this as well. Starbucks across the street. 2 blocks from Central Park which is great for running or walking every morning. I love being in NYC and dont really care where I stay, I just prefer a newer looking hotel. But in all reality, I go where it is the cheapest. This one was $1500 for the week. Which is pretty good these days.
