Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

Temperature

The rooms are not separately controlled with the heat/air conditioner. Our room was unbearably hot. We almost had to sleep with the door open to the hall.

Great location, good hotel for the price

My 19 year old daughter & I came for a 3 night, 4 day trip to check out a school and have a bit of fun in the big city. The location is excellent for walking to most of the great sights(Central Park, Broadway,shopping-5th ave. & restaurants/deli's. Also easy access to subways, & the tour buses are everywhere- a great way to see Manhattan. Would do it all again!

Great location

It's a great location in Manhattan, if you are first time in New York. The Subway(metro) is right by hotel. Make sure you bring a map and ask for directions. You get free map in hotel. If you are into art, the best Museums are Metropolitan (need 3 days to see all) and MOMA. Don't brother with other museum especially Guggenheim Museum, the staffs are rude in the museum, my friend were treated badly, it ruined our day. I like the hotel room were made up really comfy feeling when you come back every evening. Chinatown, New York pizza, Chickpea -get the salad, Subway tuna sandwich-right next door. You don't have to spend a fortune to have great food, if you are on the budget. If you are into theater, Broadway shows are near by.

NYC - Wellington Hotel

The Wellington is a great location for anyone who wants to see NYC on foot. The hotel rooms are small and there are not many ammenities to speak of...not even a soda or ice machine?! The shower goes from scalding hot to freezing cold without warning. But, the location is soooo great that these were small things to worry about!!

Great Location and Satisfactory Service

My wife and I travel to New York City at least once a year to attend Broadway shows and visit friends, and we ALWAYS stay at the Wellington. It's clean, conveniently located...and we've never had a single problem during any of our stays. Our return flight was canceled this past trip and they arranged for us to stay an extra night in the same room...two days before New Year's Eve, and at a very reasonable rate! I recommend this hotel to all my friends and family who are planning a trip to the City.

The Carnegie Club is right around the corner from the hotel -- one of the few cigar bars left in the City...with knowledgeable bartenders.

Wonderful Christmas trip!

First of all the location is Wonderful!! We could seriosuly walk out the front door of the hotel and look to the right and see central park and look to the left and see Time Square! It is in a perfect spot if you plan on exploring by foot, which is what we did. There was so much to do all within a couple of blocks!(If you go to the hotel website they have list of major attractions and their distances and how long it takes to get there.) There is also a subway exit right by the hotel if you plan on taking the subway often! One of the only things that might be an issue for some people is the room size. Our room was Tiny! But, when all you need is a place to sleep and get ready it gets the job done!

Great Midtown location

Hotel room was clean and simple. No bedbugs, however the heat seemed to be permanently stuck on super-hot! Great location made up for the heat...close to Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Subway station.
