Expected more

The location of this hotel is great. It was in the middle of everything. Very convenient to the subway. I would have maybe liked a mini fridge in the room and included Wifi which is more standard then not in this caliber hotel. The bathroom really needed and exhaust fan because we had to prop the window open with a tissue box while showering. The grout in the shower was a little moldy also due to this.

Not bad

This hotel was in a good location especially for subway access. The room they gave me was a good size suite - always a treat for NYC. There were plenty of delis (Carnegie) and stores nearby that are convenient for a business traveller. The lobby was a bit overwhelming and cramped with many travelers checking in at the 4pm hour but check in was quick. The hotel was clean but a bit shabby.

Great position

Position was the best. Rooms tiny and a bit stuffy due to heat wave. Sometimes had to queue for breakfast but worth it. For any music buffs, hotel is right next to Carnegie Hall. Also there's a subway right outside the door. All in all great value.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Get a transit map from a subway station and buy a day unlimited pass or if there for 5 days as we were, buy a $27 ticket (less for over 64's).

Good hotel, but...

We booked the Wellington hotel for 3 nights as last stop of our road tour from Miami to New York. The hotel has an excellent location, close to the Central Park, Times Square, MoMA, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, Subway stations, etc. The staff is great and helpful. You will not get internet connection in the hotel unless you pay extra! Breakfast is also not included in the price. We could not sleep well in the first night, for the heating turns on and off by itself in every room of the hotel. It was early February, but our room got far too hot and we also kept hearing the metallic sound of the heater turning on and off. We called the reception at 3:30AM and they sent immediatly someone to turn the heater off. We reported that to the manager the next morning and got a new and much better room, this time silent and not so hot. The hotel is OK if you want to book it, but be sure to get one of the renovated rooms.

Average room, reasonable rates

Very good location near the theatres. Easy to get to shows. Subway access right at the hotel's side entrance. For our sightseeing trip, it was centrally located. Our full-sized bedroom was "cozy" and the elevators were small, but the staff was friendly and very helpful.

nothing to rave about

Had to have bellman show us to our room, which we had to tip. Very slow, hot elevators. Room had a dirty glass in the window sill when we got there, and was never removed for four days. Stained chair, microwave didn't work. The day after returning from trip, a $75.00 charge was added to my credit card without my authorization. I called and got an answering machine for the person in charge to see why they did this, and no response. I would not recommed this place to anyone. Had a one bedroom suite, and the bathroom was only acessible from the bedroom. I slept on the sofabed, and had to go throught the bedroom to get to the bathroom. The only other option was a two bedrrom, two bath, but it had no door between the bedrooms.
