Radiating history from its walls, the Wellington Hotel New York?built in 1901?stands apart from the fast pace of modern city life surrounding it. The plush lobby is decked out in rich tones and intricate murals, while focal chandeliers give the interiors a classical ambience.  If you are here on business, the hotel?s central location and 24-hour business center will cater to your every need. Midtown Manhattan is full of excellent restaurants; gourmets would do well to try the Wellington?s delicious plates of Greek mezze at the Molyvos restaurant, or the Park Cafe's informal all-day dining options.

Good Location, poor communications

Hotel accommodation great. Unfortunately, plumbing problem on floor above required us to move rooms. Conflicting directions from staff meant we lost most of one morning unnecessarily waiting around for our luggage to be collected. Then we were told our new room would not be ready until after 3pm. My wife and her friend needed to rest in the afternoon but were told they would just have to sit in the lobby. They were not checking in. THEY WERE CHECKED IN AND MOVED. Hotel should have given priority cleaning to new room and should not have wasted their time. I did not travel with them but I wish I had as you would have heard the explosion from your head office. Very unsatisfactory. Told their luggage would be collected and then told they had to wait in the room for collection and then had to chase staff to get someone to finally come and collect it. I expected better. Other than this disappointment, the hotel met expectations

Adequate midtown hotel

A slightly worn, old-style hotel. Caters to international tour groups. Walking distance to times square, but far enough to avoid the crowds.

Wonderful Wellington!

The Wellington was the perfect hotel for our stay. For the price, the hotel is located just a 10 minute walk from times square and about a 3 minute walk to central park. There is a subway right outside the hotel which makes traveling easy! The staff was very friendly and even gave us a complimentary room upgrade to celebrate my wife's birthday. Yeah, it's a bit noisy but it's Manhattan! I would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again!

Three nights in New York

The hotel offers a great location in Manhattan. Located between Central Park and Time Square it is a fantastic starting point to discover / explore the city of New York. Subway next to the hotel as well offers a lot of possibilities to travel fast and directly to the different point of interests. In total: A great location for sightseeing in Manhattan. Only negative point to mention: It is an old fashioned hotel - means, we had a dark and small room on 4th floor with small bathroom and small bed. But in total hotel is clean and we can recommend for overnight staying.

Acceptable rating

Bed is old and sinks in the middle and too soft. No view whatsoever. Two windows look out into a sold wall about one foot out. Therefore room has no sunlight.

Great Location, minimal ammenities

The location was great, 2 blocks from Central Park, 7 blocks from Time square. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, being an older hotel the rooms were very "used" looking. The cushions on the sofa sleeper were worn, stained and fraying. The pillows were very flat and uncomfortable. We had a suite with a "kitchenette" that had a small refridgerator, sink and microwave. There was a small coffee pot in the cupboard but nothing else, no coffe for the pot, no cups, no utensils etc., it was a mostly a useless space. Aside from the location I would not recommend this hotel and I would probably not stay here again.

Happy with the hotel

We used the hotel as a base for all our sightseeing, and it worked admirably. Well-priced, great location (subway right outside side door), able to walk to Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Times Square. Pleasant staff, very clean rooms, though this is obviously an old hotel. Not a luxury hotel by any means, but more than adequate.

an awesome experience

great location. convenient to central park (10 minute walk) and times square (15 minute walk). room was awesome (a mini-suite) with room in both living room and bedroom. the only issue was the noisy water lines in the shower head and the noisy air conditioner.

Fair hotel in a great location

The Wellington has a great location, instant access to the Subway yellow line. Had the feel of an older European hotel. The standard room was fair. Bathroom was very small and it was difficult to regulate the shower (hot & cold). The room heater did not work.
