Always love the W, but....
I know Manhattan is the city that never sleeps, and with jackhammers starting nightly at 11pm on the street below, I definitely experienced that. It's a great location and the restaurant is good. But what's up with no free wifi in your room? For $500 a night, I expect not to have to pay for that or the $9 bottle of water on my night table. We thought it was great that Acura was offering a complementary ride in one of their new models, until we booked it and they would only drop us off at their predesignated destination which was nowhere near where we wanted to go. Hmmm time to rethink the Whatever Whenever concept perhaps.

Experience was just OK
This hotel's location is great if you have interest in the Union Square area. The rooms were large and very clean. However, the lobby leaves much to be desired, with no place to sit except in the cocktail lounge. Staff members were cordial, but not particularly attentive. Our visit to the W was rather disappointing and not what one would expect from a 4-star hotel.

Excellent Location
Couldn't beat the location. On same block as Union Square metro. Union Square Farmers' Market just outside! Hotel was offering free rides from the Acura Service, as long as the car wasn't reserved you could request a one way drop off for anywhere lower manhattan to central park - this was a time and money saver. Staff is exceptionally helpful. Upon check in I signed up for the Starwood preferred guest so that I could get free internet...this sign up was free as well. Room was spacious, bed very comfortable and clean. Large windows but not much of a view in our room. I would stay here again.

Great for Foodies & Non-typical Tourists
Hotel was stylish and room was very sizeable - especially for New York. Its location is awesome. Close to the great restaurants of the village and SoHo. Subway stop in Union Square allows for easy transit around the city.

Use the subway or the free Acura shuttle service the hotel is offering. The Acura shuttle can't be reserved in advance but is useful if it's available.

Okay! We went to NY for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade! Place was a good walking distance from the parade route! When we got there, no valet? Had to find parking which was only a block away. On a good note they do accept pets, however your going to pay $125.00 for your pet, [...]. Also parking is $40.00 24 hours, and thats not included! Room we had was 1104! You can hear everyone outside and in the hallway of the hotel, since the ice machine was right across from us. Good note people were vary curtious and friendly and 3 pm late checkout

Had a fabulous stay at the W Hotel
Had a fabulous stay at the W Hotel Union Square at the end of October. The hotel is in a great location for exploring. The staff were very polite and friendly and when we checked in we were offered a quieter room on a high floor away from the main road as we had booked in for 5 nights. The hotel bar and the underbar are very popular and a good place to hang out. Would definitely go back!

Nice Place to Stay
I was in New York to visit my son who goes to NYU. The hotel was in a very convenient location, near his apartment and close to many stores around Union Square. The best part of the W is their "Whatever, Whenever" policy which came in handy on several occasions!

W Union Square
Best location in New York, in my opinion. On Union Square, with excellent subway access, one of the best farmers' markets in the country and they now close off the square to vehicles on the weekend, making it a pedestrian paradise. The rooms are larger than you typical New York hotel, which is also a bonus.
