Affordable & good location
For the price of the hotel, this doesn't get any better, especially when its located right in the center of NYC! Good bargain afterall if you just need to crash in for a night or two!

decent for the money
It is a very small room like a college dorm room. It isn't the cleanest and the pillow and blanket are very old. Good idea to bring your own blanket and pillow. The tv doesn't have a remote and limited channels. The shared shower and bathroom are small and only 2 stalls and 2 showers but I didn't have a problem getting a shower since I wake up early. It wasn't overly noisy and decent considering how cheap the room is. Only slightly over $100/ eve. You really can't compare this to any hotel and hotels will cost much more. Overall great and excellent location. You basically get what you pay for. It's very cheap and good idea to see ny city and only sleep in the room then it is fine. Also great gym and classes are included.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
All shopping, theater and everything is at your disposal in nyc. Mainly stay out of the room all day and only use it for sleeping and rest and it is a good deal.

Looked for great rate
I did not have any bad experiences; The room was hot so I simply opened a window. I think heating was cheaper than blankets. The area is safe- there is an exercise facility on Lobby floor. The location at 47th St and 2nd Ave is close to everything!

Budget accommodation in NYC
Small rooms and shared bathrooms, luxury it ain't but so great to find anything at this price in central Manhattan, for young people and others on a tight budget. Guests also have free access to a large gym and a swimming pool. Wifi available though was erratic.

The worst hotel I've ever seen in my life, keep away from it.
The hotel is not easy to find, the name is weird and small. The location is just so-so,not very good, but the price is very high. The room is old and small like a cell.It gives you a kind of feeling of staying in the prison,if you are not slim, then it's hard for you to make a turn in the room. The heating is not available and the heating machine makes the noise all the night,no bathroom in the room,no internet access in the room. You have to bring your key everywhere, you have to show your key to the guard if your want to use the elevator, you have to wrap your key if you want to use the restroom,if you want to take a shower you have to take your key as well. The room makes me scared,so old, with the heating machine making noise all day.The stuff are rude and impatient.Very unhappy experience.Never take it into consideration. It costs me 130 bucks for one night. It doesn't worth the money.I'll recommend Hotel 17,the location is good and the price is reasonable, only 89 bucks one night,or Paramount Hotel, the location is good as well, and the room is big and clean with bathroom and the stuff are very nice,it's 116 bucks or the Holiday Inn or Best Western.Stay away from YMCA!

bare, bare bones
sufficed as a last minute, last resort alternative. Convenient location but rooms are literally one step up from a prison cell - and I really mean one step up, Very uncomfortable bed but things seemed to be reasonably clean and secure. Excellent shared washrooms and private showers. The positives are not enough to see me staying there again though.

I was hesitant to stay here after reading the reviews. If you are used to fancier hotels it seems a bit shabby but for a camper like me it was fine. The bed was comfy and everyone I met was sweet so I felt safe and it was quiet and so cheap for a hotel in Manhattan with a pool and gym.

Vanderbilt YMCA
The rooms are fairly clean and tiny, about what you would expect for this price. The front desk staff is horrible, they are rude and difficult, and their checkin procedure is awful. Waited in line an hour to check in only to find out I had to have a printed copy of my reservation, then had to leave, print it, and wait in line another hour.
