Travel Inn

Travel Inn is within walking distance to Times Square on 42nd street. Subway & bus terminal are about 1 1/2 blocks from this hotel. The king size bed and huge walk-in shower were a +. Only drawback was the fan control had no A/C or heat control: fan would only blow warm air. Could see the pool and the air was cool in the hallway. I recommend this hotel for $250/night price.

At best this is a 2 star hotel. It's six stories tall and the elevators were out for 24 hours, The Wi-Fi was weak to Non-Existent, totally off for 21 hours. I had a front room on the 5th floor and it was like sleeping on the sidewalk, the heat didn't work, the windows didn't stop outside noise, etc, etc. The only thing that was good was the parking. I would never recommend this hotel

This was a great location for the price. Parking was also a big plus.

Parking was free. That was nice. Room was clean, however the walls inbetween each room were very thin and we could hear our neighbors very clearly each night. That was very frustrating considering it cost me $732.00 for 2 nights. I will not go back due to how noisy it was.

The front desk staff was more than accommodating. We arrived very early on Sat morning and were allowed to leave our car and then again late on the day we checked out. We walked to our theaters easily from there. The rooms look like they came straight out of the sixties, and nothing had changed. The lighting was very dim, and the king bed we asked for was the smallest king we had ever seen. The double bed room our kids had ,seemed more spacious and roomy. Anywhere else in the US this would be a $98 room, in NY of course it's $300 plus :)

Three of us shared a two bedded room for three nights, walking everywhere we wanted to go. Restaurants abound in this neighborhood Room had a microwave and a refrig and there is a wonderful grocery store (Food Emporium) 1/2 block away where we purchased food for breakfasts. Could have used another chair in the room and a coffee maker but overall VERY satisfied with hotel.

On arrival the reception staff were really stoppy and not very helpful - but this got better throughout the four days we stayed there. Location is ideal, half a mile from times square and far enough out not to get distracted by the constant hustle and bustle of NY traffic. The hotel itself is dated and needs a make-over, but it is clean and we personally didnt spend too long there as we were constantly out and about, but it did offer us all that we wanted. All in all a good experience!

Unless you lock your valuables. We put our closed luggage in the closet for the day on Saturday (only one day and one night) after checking in late Friday night and upon return Saturday from our activities our MP3 player was removed from our luggage. The hotel owner/manager stated that there was nothing that could be done since we signed that they would not be responsible for missing valuables. So do request a safe. The housekeeping personnel cannot be trusted

We spent 3 nights in New York and stayed at the Travel Inn hotel on 42nd Street. I must say that when we first saw our room we had reservations but once settled in we could not find any faults with it. The hotel is located on 42 street along 10th avenue and is within walking distance of Broadway and Time Square and only a short 25 minutes walk from Central Park. It is also centrally located near transport hubs like the Port Authority and Grand Central Station. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. The room as cleaned to a high standard each day and extra linens and towels are available upon request. I would have no hesitation in staying at the Travel Inn when visiting New York again. Great Value with a great location. Definitely recommended.
