Enjoying Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving week-end in NYC and enjoyed the fact that the hotel was so close from the main Broadway attractions (10 minutes). We were able to left our luggage in the Safety room all day after check-out, which we appreciated a lot. The personnel was warm and competent. the pool looked nice and we are contemplating coming back in June.

Thanksgiving parade

The hotel was very bare bones. The rooms were too hot and we had to keep our window open at all times so it was very noisy. The mattresses were terrible and the toilet flush was broken. The second night we changed rooms to the back of the hotel which was a little better. We met other friends that said they paid about 50% less than I did. The quality of this hotel is about an $89 per night level. No more than that.

family getaway

checked in on sunday checked out on wednesday, we drove and loved the free parking and having acess to our car through out our stay. we are a family of five so we were thrilled to have a fridge and microwave in our room to cut down on cost of food. room for nyc was a good size.kids were thrilled to see a pool(not that they could use it-it was nov when we were there). it was a short walk to times square area and even shorter walk to subway.would stay here again or refer a friend.

It is ok and cheaper than many hotels in Manhattan

My first time at this hotel. It did not start very well. The weather was aweful and I ended walking from the Port Authority subway station in the wrong direction. When I went to the room assigned there were clothes in the room obviously it was occupied. The mamager quickly gave me another room. I need to take 2 elevators one to the third floor, walk past the swimming pool and go up another elevator to the 5th floor. The room was spacious and clean. Nice flat screen TV. Wish the channel selections was broader than it was. Small bathroom and decent shower. I did find out later that night that the train tracks are near by. There were a few rumbles but not all that annoying. I did see that they have free parking. Now that can be worth up to $50 a night in Manhattan. I think 3 stars in the right rating. I do think I would have had a better NY experience in the warmer dryer weather.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Use the subways at rush hours if you can. At night on a weekday the traffic was at a standstill in all directions.

not good

the location of the hotel is good. 4 min to Chinese consulate and 13 min to time square. But the amenities in the hotel is too bad. No hot water in the room and the room is too dry to sleep over the night.

Leisure Trip

Good walking distance to Times Square, which was the focus of our trip. Could check the luggage in the security area of the garage. Hotel staff was not friendly, had to walk through a parking garage to get to elevator. Room was not clean - stains all over the blankets, plastic tags from previous guests on the floor, tiny bathroom with poor drainage in tub and cracked porcelin. Very thin walls so you could hear the conversations in the adjoining rooms. Refrigerator in the room did not cool. No way to adjust the stifling heat in the room. Yes, you get what you pay for, but for $277 not worth the "bargain."

Great Location

Only fee blocks away from subway station and. Port authority bus terminal. The room we stayed is not the greatest, old furniture, thin wall, we can hear neighbors conversation!! But came with a fridge and microwave. You are away from hotel most of the time so it didn't bother me that much.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

There is a Japanese ramen noodle shop called totto ramen on 52nd street and 9th. About 10 minutes walk. Waiting is long about a hour, but it was delicious! Great for cold New York weather.

Eh...

This was not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. It was a great location just a few blocks from the Javits convention center and other good locations. Half a block from the best pizza in NYC. But the room looked like it hadn't been updated (other than the LCD TV) since the 1990's. Nothing fancy at all. And the bathroom was very, very dusty. Not great. But the price is right for what you get, so if price and location matter most, I think you'll find the Travel Inn adequate.
