a week at the Waldorf Astoria

Great location and grand lobby and entrances but room (king superior) was less impressive; I’ve been in better rooms in 4* chains. Bars and restaurants are expensive and not good value for the money

Romantic Adventure

The check in staff was extremely professional and very helpful. The hotel can be a bit overwhelming because of its glorious size, but from start to finish you feel as though you belong. I am looking forward to returning to experience some of their spa services. The cleanliness and gym area was perfect.

Classic Waldorf could use an interior lift

Our stay at the Waldorf was pretty wonderful cause the building and the interiors are so gorgeous - they just don't add detail like they did when they built it. However, the room was unheated, and it was cold out. We asked for maintenance to fix this, and his answer was, "well its so nice out we don't have the heat on". I replied, "its 42 degrees out". So he got us a dinky space heater. That put me off. BUT, we got a great deal on a room there, and I've always wanted to spend the weekend at the Waldorf, so it was worth it.

good value, nice location

the hotel is a little dated but not bad. depends what you are used to and what kind of deal you can get. maybe not quite as nice as the ritz, 4 seasons, etc, but my wife used the money we saved to shop instead. so overall, it was nice.

Good Stuff!

Fun, interesting, great. Why go anywhere else? Felt like I was transported back in time to the 1940's. Only regret no taking advantage of the buffet breakfast in the lobby. Decadent and delicious.

Classic but still classy

This huge hotel is a NY icon, but its age didn't compromise the high quality of my stay. The room was up-to-date and very comfortable, and the staff professional and friendly. Other hotels are closer to shopping and restaurants, but the Waldorf is within a few blocks of everything, including Grand Central Station. My only complaints were mild--having to wait in line for a good while to check in, and a similar wait for elevators (not unusual in such a large hotel, but still a bit irritating). Overall a very good experience.

Average

Very good location, very comfy beds, room corresponding to the one bought in the package. But rooms and bathrooms now need to be refurbished ! It seems that time stops 40 years ago...
