Amazing hotel on central park

The staff were friendly and helpful, getting us a room 5 hours before our check in. The little things were done right: you can turn off the room lights right from the bed, the shower seals perfectly keeping it warm, the HDTV is actually HD, the elevators are fast and responsive. My only knock against this place is the food (even breakfast) is expensive, but you are staying at 5 star hotel in NY, so it's kind of expected.

Over Advertised/Priced

Over priced for what you get. Rooms are adequate and clean but not anywhere close to what you expect from the description in the advertising and the pricing. Seating is limited because the rooms are on the small side. The best thing going for this hotel is location.

Food was bland, portions small and way overpriced. You can do far better walking to any of the nearby restaurants.

Very pleasant - but pricey extras

The (twin bedded)room and general decor was wonderful. Exquisite furnishings in the large room, and a wonderful large bathroom with lots of fluffy towels, large walk in shower room and big bath tub. But the "city view", looking north up 5th Ave, was uninspiring. The visit was marred by having no tea or coffee making facilities in the room (room service was extortionate for a cup of coffee. And, at Taj rates, there is no excuse for charging $13.50 per day for wi-fi. No excuse at all. Shame on you for such penny-pinching policies. The staff were courteous, pleasant and helpful and the food at the "Caprice" restaurant was very good and, during restaurant week, the prixe fixe was good value. An enjoyable hotel, however I have stayed at the Elysee and it has similar style at lower rates with breakfast and free wi-fi. Not such a prime location so you takes your choice...

Hotel great but Front Desk has problems

Hotel was very nice but Front Desk staff missed the mark. I expected much more from this class of hotel. Examples: Friend called to have champagne and fruit delivered to our room. He was told that the hotel had already sent up wine and fruit so would be overkill. All that was actually delivered was 3 pieces of fruit with a note from my fried. He was VERY embarrased. On checkin, they took credit card for incidentals but neglected to process so I ended up getting a letter under my door indicating a payment problem. VERY upsetting. Due to this process issue, front desk wanted to send up bottle of our favourite wine, but instead of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay was delivered which we do not care for. Lastly, they graciously agreed to late chekout but neglected to mention that they could not update their computer system, so we returned from our activity hot and sweaty and couldn't get into our room --- and minutes earlier I had been at the front desk delivering a thank you gift to the staff. We still had a good time but Front Desk staff is just not on the ball the way they should be at this level of hotel.

New York with style

You can't do New York without style. The Pierre Hotel the epitomy of that. Its elegance and the top service beat everything else I know in the city, particularly the unsettling vastness of the Plaza, which is across the street. The rooms are gorgeous and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The Concierge staff is superb; they were very responsive to all our needs and organized dinners and other outings in the most effective way.

The Pierre was FANTASTIC - New Year 2011

From the moment I arrived to the time I left, service was 5 star. The entire staff exceeded my expectations. The room was spotless and spectacular. Will definatley stay again. Due to a late departing flight, they allowed me a late checkout of 4pm !! Wonderful. My New York favorite hotels are the Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, The London and the New York Palace... If you like any of those, you will LOVE the Pierre.
