Chic decor, luxury amenities at this stylish hotel near Gramercy Park
This hotel is all about style. Its small size (just 135 rooms) and location in the Gramercy Park neighborhood make it feel more intimate and less touristy than a Midtown high-rise property. Modern furniture and animal print accents lend a hip vibe. Frette linens and marble bathrooms provide luxurious touches. A guest lounge offers free coffee and tea and computers for guests to use.
Highlights
  • Luxury linens and marble bathrooms
  • Guest lounge with seasonal outdoor terrace
Location

The neighborhood is known for its historic townhouses. Gramercy Park, however, is private, so only neighborhood residents have access. Union Square is a short walk from the hotel, and from there it's just a couple more blocks to the famous Strand Book Store. Greenwich Village, the East Village other exciting neighborhoods are an easy subway ride away.

Rooms

Rooms are chic and modern, with accents such as animal-print pillows, velvet drapes and leather headboards. Beds are dressed with Frette linens and down comforters. Marble bathrooms have bath products by Lather. Expect in-room amenities including iPod docking stations, bathrobes and slippers, 32-inch LCD TVs, Wi-Fi (fees apply) umbrellas and in-room safety deposit boxes.

Couldn't be better

This hotel is a hidden gem in NYC. It is conviniently close to a subway (two blocks) and there are little places near to have a cheap breakfast. The decorationis very modern and elegant.I rate the staff with 5 stars but they deserve 10 or more!!! They were amazing, they made our anniversary trip memorable, they gave us an upgrade free of charge and the room view was amazing I will totally recommend and stay at this hotel again.

Not the greatest

Rooms are very small, I know everything in NYC tends to be smaller but this one was tiny. it is very noise. I dont think was worth the price.

A Great Boutique Experience!

I recently stayed here on a business trip and wanted to change it up a bit from the big chain I usually stay at in Midtown. I loved this neighborhood (Gramercy) - packed with culinary adventures and close to the East Village, Union Square, the West Village and Chelsea and only blocks from the subway. I thought the room was perfect for NYC (I had 2 double beds, so it was bigger than a king room) and other than a little issue with the thermostat that was promptly taken care of, I felt safe, comfortable and clean. I was on the 4th floor, so the street noise was a bit more than I get on the 30-somethingth floor I usually stay at, but I love the sounds of the city. For light sleepers however, they do offer complementary ear plugs. My room was very clean. I am barely in the room when I'm in town, so I didn't have any maid service as it was stocked with plenty of linens (and a minibar that was hard to resist!). Everyone I encountered was super nice and very helpful. The customer service is definitely different here than in the larger chains, for sure - you get MUCH more personal attention. I will definitely stay here again!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

You have to try the Gramercy Tavern for an amazing tasting menu! And the Natural Foods market next door was a great stop for healthy take-out/groceries.

Temperature control in room did not work

Apart from being a steady 78-80 degrees in the room and not being able to control the temp the stay was fine.

great hotel

I picked this hotel because of the location, which is great. Upon arrival the front desk was more than curtious. The lobby was very modern, nicely decorated. My room ended up having a less than modern stand up shower. So I asked the desk if they could get me a room with a bathtub. They were great. Three rooms later I was very happy. Not once did they seem put out. Very accommodating , helpful people. I can't say enough about their wonderful customer service. The roof deck was amazing. The views stunning. You can take your own bottle of wine and just relax up there. That alone is worth staying here for. Yes the rooms are smaller but this is NY and all rooms are smaller. They bed was comfy. The room very clean. House keeping great. I would highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely be staying here again.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Go buy a $10. 00 subway card at Union Square. Get where you wanna go fast and save tons of cash. Cabs can get pricey really fast and generally take twice the amount of time. Skip uber they were a big no show.

Excellent location, bring earplugs

Awesome location between Gramercy Park and Union Square. Staff were incredibly helpful and the hotel was full of little things to make your stay better - - affordable breakfast buffet, loaner umbrellas in your closet and by the front door, C.O. Bigelow toiletries. Just be sure to request a room NOT on/near 3rd Ave as it is very loud at night. But hey, NYC is the city that never sleeps!

Good Manhattan Value

Great trip

I booked this hotel for my parent's first trip to NYC. I wanted them to stay in Manhattan just not right in the thick of the crazy busy LES streets. This was a perfect location, only down fall was the ambulance sirens at night but you get that in NYC. The staff was very nice and even offered free wine between 5-7, a nice little way to relax before heading out to a wonderful dinner. I also book this at a great price. I was very happy with the entire reservation and stay. Beautiful European style hotel. Definitely recommend it!

Great location, not so great room

This hotel has a wonderful location. However, the rooms are not that great. VERY small, TERRIBLE mattress, and peeling bathtub. Walls are thin so you can hear the water run. The rooftop is nice and the computer/guest room is adequate.
