Nice location but beware the NOISE.
Excellent location. Nice staff, great service. Rooms were very small and walls are paper thin. We could hear the family in the next room, talking, laughing, sneezing, etc.. And street so sounds were horrible. Book it but bring earplugs!

Great location for an active couple
The recently remodeled hotel is lovely, clean and has a courteous and helpful staff. The surrounding neighborhood with its antique shops, bookstores, restaurants, coffee shops and Zabars is delightful. From this location and the convenient subway stop and plentiful taxis we were able to get to Ground Zero, Brooklyn, etc.

In fact there is so much to do you could spend all your time on the upper west side! hotel was fantastic with great staff, very clean rooms that were also quiet. Kids Intro to NYC
Great staff, very helpful. Gave us an upgrade when they saw we had kids with us. Nice view of Hudson and NJ. Very clean and well appointed yet understated. Fantastic neighborhood with great choice of restaurants and easy proximity to Central Park. If you're looking for New York neighborhood experience away, this is a great place to stay.

Great location
We have stayed in the Lucerne four or five times at this point and were grateful again for its great location as a jumping off point for any visit to NYC, particularly with a family. The Lucerne is directly across the street from a full-service drugstore for last-minute requirements; it's one block away from its nearest subway station; it's two blocks away from Central Park and the Museum of Natural History; and it's one block away from a tiny-but-great farmers' market. Location and value are our abiding reasons for staying at the Lucerne, but I also appreciate the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. We have also never had a noise problem there. The size of the closet is a bit of a joke - the room safe is welcome but was installed right in the middle of the hanging area, so there is next to zero closet space - and the bathroom is also more than a little petite, particularly for a family, but the sleeping room itself, apart from the lack of seating, is totally adequate even if it is small. The closet and bathroom situations are definitely a challenge for us as a family, but the location and value at the hotel will definitely bring us back.

A Great Place to Stay on the Upper West Side
I have stayed at the Lucerne on a number of occasions, and each time the hotel has lived up to he high standards I have. One to expect from it. This latest stay, albeit a short one, was no different. The Front Desk staff was friendly and efficient, and upon hearing I had stayed at the hotel previously, the associate who checked me in smiled and said "welcome back!" The room was neat, clean and comfortable, and even though it looked out on busy West 79th Street, it was quiet as well. There was no noise from adjoining rooms or the hall, a plus from the Lucerne's original solid construction. There was some leakage of cold outside air through the bathroom window, but nothing too terrible. It was another in a series of enjoyable stays of me at the Lucerne.

Plenty of mass transit, both subways and buses, within a short walk of the hotel. Much cheaper than a taxi and you can get pretty much anywhere you need to go.
