The name says it all
I found this hotel by chance. It's a boutique in the middle of Time Square theatre district, just off to the side on W. 47th street. The lobby is amazing and in many hotels, that does not mean the rooms will match. But this place was just renovated so the entire building is spotless and very well designed. The room was small, but well appointed. The staff was extremely nice and clearly understands what customer service is. I'm sure I got this room for a bargain at $175 per night. But if the price was always in that range, I'd never go anywhere else. It's that nice.

NYC for Porgy & Bess weekend
As soon as we got to the hotel the staff treated us like family (the door man - Greg and the front desk personnel - Hugh are THE BEST!!!!). The rooms are "cozy" (read - small), but nicely done. A great couple's get-a-way. You can't beat the location. Near everything, but "a little off the beaten path" so you don't feel like you are smack dab in the middle of Time Square. Nice eclectic decor and the lounge/bar is pretty good. For the price, you can't beat the location and the excellent staff. The hotel is short on amenities, but who stays in their hotel when you're in NYC/TS?!?! If you are on a business trip - this hotel is not for you.

Great for Business or Couples
Room was small but VERY modern and well appointed. Staff was outstanding. If you have business at Rockafeller or are in town for Site-Seeing, the location is Near Perfect.

Excellent But No Busines Center
The hotel is excellent, the location is excellent, but the surprise was that there was no business center. S0 if on one is on vacation and chose to not bring a notebook, one can't do simple tasks like print airline tickets.

Wild Halloween Weekend
The hotel was almost the perfect place for my wife and I to lay our heads during a busy, wild Halloween weekend. The room was small but modern, clean, and quiet. The atmosphere of the hotel, especially for Halloween, was perfect. The lighting of the lobby, hallways and rooms was rich and sexy in a classy, architectual way. The room amenitites were modern and stylish. Though, with no ice machine to use with the wet bar in the room, it made for a slight inconvenience. Otherwise, the room amenitites were good. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful and accomodating.Of all the many times I've stayed at hotels in NYC, the Sanctuary Hotel was defintiely one for the books and made our trip this time, one of the most memorable. All in all, my wife and I would definitely stay at the Sanctuary again.

A must stay location
This is a great hotel and I can't tell you how nice the staff is. Stop in to the front desk in the evening and see Michael. Swing through the bar (almost anytime day or night) and see Carrie. Trust me it's a great place and we loved it. We have stayed all over NYC and we're happy with this place the most. And we've stayed at much higher priced locations.

Great Overnight stay
Only a block away from Times Square on a quite street, is the posh Santuary. The staff at hotel is exceptional. All the staff from the front desk to the breakfast bar attendents to the doormen were exceptionally accomodating and happy to see you enjoying your stay. I got into town at 8:00am and checked to see if I could get in the room sooner and within couple of hours they a got a room ready for me to check in. Perfect! Although I was there for only one night the room was very comfortable and chic with great down pillows and covers with plenty of towels. The glass enclosed shower had a rainfall shower head and hand held faucet. The delux queen room was very roomy for New York spaces. Totally recommend staying at the hotel!

Great Place To Stay
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Sanctuary Hotel. It is very close to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and eating establishments. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming. We traveled to NYC to sightsee, attend Broadway plays, and enjoy the local cuisine. Our room was modern and clean, and the location was quiet. My wife and I will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we visit NYC.

Excellent service but...
The rooms were extremely small. When they during the check in mentioned that we were upgraded to a bigger room I thought: Yes! When we then a few minutes later walked in and almost fell over the bed I started laughing. They really are THAT small. All and all the hotel is in a perfect location with walking distance to a lot of the major attractions in NYC. Wonderful and always smiling staff made going in and out of the hotel a joy. The breakfast standard was terribly low (but I almost expected that as the breakfast was included in the price). They basically only have toast, cerial and coffee.
