Pod Life

We loved the Pod! This is a fantastic value. A word of wisdom: you will need to feel very, very comfortable with any guest you share the room with. The bathrooms are partially see through and very close to the bed, so be warned! Cool a/v hookups so you can connect your computer to your TV (no cables included). The rooftop bar is beautiful and crowded, the downstairs taco joint is gorgeous, delicious, and fun. If you like a good value, can handle a room the size of a traincar, and don't mind that most guests there seem to be under the age of 30, this is a great pick!

Less hype, more substance please.

Bare bones, but sufficient. A bit pricey for price to value ratio. Room description did not say that "two twin beds" means a twin sized bunk bed, which reminded me of my time in the army. Room was clean but had a fairly strong "locker room" smell. Luckily i could open the window.

Great Deal

Staying at POD 39 was a wonderful experience for me. Initially drawn to the Astonishingly Affordable price for Manhattan, POD 39 proved to be a fun place to stay. My room was small and very clean. There were toiletries left every day, as well as a super powered hair dryer. The service staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar with unreal views of the Chrysler Building was just another added bonus.

Don't want to say how good it is for fear of not being able to book a room in the future.

I've stayed here 3 other times and each stay is consistently very good. I especially like the cleanliness and styling of each room. Clean floor, clean bed, clean bathroom are teh tenets of a quality hotel room. Pod39 goes the extra step with excellent staff, great location, and a remarkably affordable price. In addition, the restaurant is very good, especially the cocktail menu; and sometimes the hotel has given us complimentary or reduced drink prices. And another plus I experienced on my most recent stay is that for just $10 more, our dog can stay in the room with us.

Exactly What We Wanted

We booked this knowing it was a great value because we didn't need much space in the room. The room is very compact but we didn't plan on spending much time there. The rest of the hotel and staff were great and the rooftop is a very cool spot that even local New Yorkers know of and visit.

Just Perfect

I am used to staying in pricey four and five star hotels but needed a budget option in New York for three nights where I was staying alone. I was not expecting much and was overwhelmingly surprised with how amazing this place was. For a single, the size of the room was larger than I had been expecting, not pod-like at all! I obviously cannot comment on other room types. The room was spotless and everything was brand new, no wear and tear at all. There were quality complimentary toiletries, TV with all cable channels, a large powerful shower with endless hot water and even a hairdryer. The location was simply incredible - I had a view of the Chrysler building from the shower window and it was a ten minute walk to Times Square. The nearest subway is at Central Station, about five minutes walk. The area was very safe, fine for a single lady. My room seemed to be quite quiet too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend Pod 39 more highly.

excellent value for ny

It's really difficult to find an affordable place to stay in NY that isn't a dive. I was really pleased with Pod 39. The rooms are small but they have everything you need, and although the place is big it's quiet. Good bar downstairs.

Good value for Long NYC Weekend

My partner and I stayed at Pod 39 for a long weekend in NYC, and recommend the hotel for any hipster (or hipster-minded) budget traveler. In short, it's a wallet-friendly, few-frills, modern, and hip hotel in a good location. The rooms are small- really small- even by NY standards, but they are well designed for space efficiency (think of the IKEA model of the 350 sf apt and you get the idea). The light colors and high ceilings made the room feel cozy not cramped. There was no closet in our room but space to hang clothes and also store them under the bed. The sink was laughably small (I've seen bigger ones in airplane lavatories) but hey you make do. The hotel's Murray Hill/Midtown East location was quiet and convenient- just a few blocks to Grand Central Station where you can catch Metro to anywhere. Times Square is about a 15-minute walk. Also, the hotel's Spanish-style rooftop patio (with full bar) was quite nice and an unexpected plus at this price range! In the warm months, def check this out for a pre or post-evening drink!
