Exactly What We Wanted
We booked this knowing it was a great value because we didn't need much space in the room. The room is very compact but we didn't plan on spending much time there. The rest of the hotel and staff were great and the rooftop is a very cool spot that even local New Yorkers know of and visit.

Just Perfect
I am used to staying in pricey four and five star hotels but needed a budget option in New York for three nights where I was staying alone. I was not expecting much and was overwhelmingly surprised with how amazing this place was. For a single, the size of the room was larger than I had been expecting, not pod-like at all! I obviously cannot comment on other room types. The room was spotless and everything was brand new, no wear and tear at all. There were quality complimentary toiletries, TV with all cable channels, a large powerful shower with endless hot water and even a hairdryer. The location was simply incredible - I had a view of the Chrysler building from the shower window and it was a ten minute walk to Times Square. The nearest subway is at Central Station, about five minutes walk. The area was very safe, fine for a single lady. My room seemed to be quite quiet too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend Pod 39 more highly.

excellent value for ny
It's really difficult to find an affordable place to stay in NY that isn't a dive. I was really pleased with Pod 39. The rooms are small but they have everything you need, and although the place is big it's quiet. Good bar downstairs.

Good value for Long NYC Weekend
My partner and I stayed at Pod 39 for a long weekend in NYC, and recommend the hotel for any hipster (or hipster-minded) budget traveler. In short, it's a wallet-friendly, few-frills, modern, and hip hotel in a good location. The rooms are small- really small- even by NY standards, but they are well designed for space efficiency (think of the IKEA model of the 350 sf apt and you get the idea). The light colors and high ceilings made the room feel cozy not cramped. There was no closet in our room but space to hang clothes and also store them under the bed. The sink was laughably small (I've seen bigger ones in airplane lavatories) but hey you make do. The hotel's Murray Hill/Midtown East location was quiet and convenient- just a few blocks to Grand Central Station where you can catch Metro to anywhere. Times Square is about a 15-minute walk. Also, the hotel's Spanish-style rooftop patio (with full bar) was quite nice and an unexpected plus at this price range! In the warm months, def check this out for a pre or post-evening drink!

Convenient, good hospitality
Excellent. Well-situated, staff courteous and helpful, room clean and attractive. It is a Pod hotel, so the room is very small and occasional mishaps occur -- such as walking into walls and squeezing between bed and TV.

13th birthday getaway
We were in a GREAT location. The hotel was quiet and a perfect view from the roof top. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The only thing I can complain about is the rooms are VERY tiny. There is no privacy even in the restroom, and no ice machine for hotel. This was a trip for my daughter and we really enjoed ourselves. We walked all over downtown sight seeing, pointing, eating and trying all types of food. We hopped on the subway and went over to New Jersey to Carlos bakery and took pics of everything. We were 2 blocks away from where I Am Legend was filmed so we immediately reconized the spot. So please if your ready to take on the BIG APPLE and you are looking to spend your money wisely please check them out it was out of this world

Weekend in NYC
As advertised this hotel is no frills, very small rooms, and good value for NYC, if you get a good rate on a room (rates vary with season and deals). I got a great rate, so the stay was ok. I would not stay here in the future if I had to pay the usual rate. Heads up if you choose to stay here. I had read about this online and it happened to me. I was concerned with an odor (strong, unpleasant) in the first room they put me in, so they moved me to another room that was better. I asked if they had this problem before and was concerned when they said, "yes". Front desk girl said it might be the shower curtain needing to be replaced?! Also, more than once I had a hard time getting the front desk to answer. Otherwise i would say the room I ended up in was clean and fine for this trip, as I wasn't in the hotel much... just needed a bed and bathroom in a good area for two nights.

Great experience
Pod39 might not have the biggest rooms in the world, but they make up for it in quality. The staff was incredibly nice and prompt, the rooms were incredibly clean, the overhead shower was devine. Honestly, in NYC, you spend so much time around the city that you really just need a place to sleep anyways. Pod39 is a place I will go back to.
