awful experience

I was not told by this website or the hotel that it is being renovated. You enter from the side street into a dirty make shift lobby that makes you think you are entering a government building for food stamps. The space was small and dirty. The staff was not friendly and had to wait 10 minutes to check in because only one person helping others. No room service. NO- Zero amenities. No Business center. I had no drinking glasses in the room. No ice machine on the floor. Requested room king. Not available in the renovated room. No mini bar. Had to call five times for drinking glasses and a cork screw. Someone brought two glasses that were dirty. Then someone else brought corkscrew. Then a fifth brought clean glasses. Someone knocked on the door looking for someone else with the do not disturb on the door outside. My first morning to wake up there, at 7 am was because of housekeeping talking with each other so loud outside the door as if they were at home. I got up and screamed to them that this was a hotel where people are sleeping. This was one of my worst NYC hotel experiences EVER. I travel to NYC frequently. WHy was I not told by this website or the hotel of what to expect. AWFUL They deserve an F! I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!

Perfectly fine place to stay

The hotel was clean, quaint, and in a good location by central park and the subway ... just far enough away from the crazy of time square. The only thing missing was a coffee pot in the room and FREE internet service, but I guess those amenities might come with an upgrade. I would definitely return.

Great location

Loved it. The staff was friendly. I was offered a voucher for a glass of wine or dessert at the hotel restaurant. I was asked if I preferred a view or a quiet room. I opted for quiet and that's exactly what I got. The elevator system was fully explained to me before I left the desk. I was even offered a city map and asked if I needed anything else or had any questions. Checkout was just as friendly and quick. The room was clean and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again. Obitz has great rates for this hotel.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

If you are interested in immigration and the history of NYC, I highly recommend visiting the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street in the Lower East side. The Victoria Confino tour was incredible. Kids and adults will love this interactive tour. Highly recommended.

Fine, but not terrific

The hotel seems to cater to enormous groups of teenagers, apparently in the city for some kind of school-related activities. The lobby was always teeming with what seemed like hundreds of kids waiting for their guides to whisk them off. The room was fine, a little small, and the ventilation wasn't the best (the windowless bathroom had no working fan).

Park Central New York

great location. Our room was clean and the service was good. There was no kettle, so we had to boil the water to make a cup of tea in the coffee peculator. De cafe coffee was not routinely provided, but these were minor issues. Comfortable base to explore New York

New York, New York ! ! !

The hotel was very clean and spotless. All lifts were working properly as I have stayed in hotels where the lifts were always breaking down. Staff were friendly and helpful. One thig was the shower had a broken handle on the faucet but could still use it. Room & Bathroom was not as big as it looked in photo,s but was very comfortable. Wifi costs you $14 / night but in hotel website it just says (Internet fee $14). Apart from that you can go down to the cafes next door and get free internet there. Great location to walk to a lot of places, 5th avenue, Pentral Park, Empire State Building, Times Square and Broardway. For those going to see Statue of Liberty its just a walk across the street and catch the Letter "R" Downtown subway to Whitehall St South Ferry station. To get back to hotel, catch the Uptown "R" train back and get off at "57th St" station. 20 min ride, it couldnt be easier!
