Very Disappointed - NOT a 4 star hotel (not even close).
I booked this hotel based on a 4 star rating. It might have been at one time. They didn't mention they were undergoing major renovations. And my room looked like borrowed scratched up old furniture from a cheaper chain. I was there for work and needed a courier package delivered asap. I even asked the desk clerk to make a note to wake me up if necessary ... no matter the time of night. The package arrived around 10:30pm (based on a call from my client) so I went to the desk to ask for it (they never called). It was around 11:00pm by then and the clerk told me the shipping room closed at 9:00am. After talking at length with her, the night manager and finally a bellman, they opened the door beside the front desk and handed me my package. After I was thoroughly irritated. I'll never stay here again (I wouldn't stay here again if they gave me a free night's stay). I've stayed at much better hotels in NYC many times for much less money. Wrong rating. I wish I had thought to take photos to post. This hotel might be worth about $125-150/night - only because of proximity to Times Square.

Loud and uncomfortable
I have never stayed at a hotel where the cleaning staff was a loud as this hotel. Starting at 8 am they were yelling up and down the halls, and it was still going on 2.5 hours later.

Great Location under renovation
Staff was great, wi-fi is $15/day which, given the fact that everything is being renovated, seemed petty and unnecessary. Location is fantastic and if you can get a room there for less than $150 it's worth it. I wouldn't dream of paying list rate however. Hot water is plentiful but you have to keep adjusting the temperature every minute as it's regulator does not seem to be working.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
The parking garage on the corner has on-line coupons that cut parking from $46/day to $30. That helps a lot.

NOT even close to 4 stars
First the good: I got this room for a ridiculously good price ($109) - yes, I know, that should have been my first clue. I was expecting something, but not what I got. My room was enormous for NY (big for anywhere really). The staff were trying pretty hard to accommodate for the pandemonium caused by the construction. This hotel is in a fabulous location and, when the renovations are complete (assuming they are soup to nuts and a gut), it should be pretty great. The bad: The bar, restaurant, gift shop, business center, and primary elevators were all closed. (Okay, I can expect that for the rate). All travelers were going through the back/side entrance and the service elevators which require you to enter your room number before you get on (ok once you figure it out but generally added to the pandemonium). My room and floor were gross. Broken handle on the shower knob, mold in the grout, hair in the sink, broken outlets, peeling wallpaper, and the best: something on the spread that looked like, oh, I don't know, yogurt at one time? (We can only hope). The gym (still open, I was relieved to hear) - a dump. 3 out of 5 treadmills broken (for example). Yes, you get what you pay for. But I was STILL disappointed. At least change the 4-star rating until the renos are complete.

Great price and good size rooms but keep your expectations low in terms of services. It's under construction and will be for many months. Rooms were fine though.

A comfortable hotel in midtown
Park Central was close to the Metropolitan Opera House and MOMA, which is why I chose it for a weekend getaway. Despite the cold weather it was an excellent weekend and hotel was convenient, clean, and comfortable.
