Good central location but lacking

The hotel is very central -2 blocks from Central park one way and 2 to fifth avenue shopping the other. Currently the hotel is under renovation but this was not made clear on booking so the lobby and access corridors looked very tired and shabby. Also it was not made clear that the hotel was housing so many displaced familes after Hurricane Sandy and while I applaud their hospitality- I think it would have been fairer to contain them to a certain number of floors together - we had kids toys; buggies and parties into the early morning going on outside our room along the corridor. Not satisfactory when you pay approx $1300 for 3 nights accommodation for 2 people!

Enjoyable break

Busy hotel. Good location. Staff very helpful & friendly. Our room was next to the lifts so rather noisy at times. Tea-making facility would have been nice. Breakfast in the restaurant was good, although a little pricey. Take-away breakfast excellent value though. We were surpried at having to pay for our bags to be kept at the hotel for a couple of hours before we left for the airport.

Great location basic room

Excellent access to Broadway, Central Park, 5th Ave shopping and Times Square. I would stay here again based on location alone. Mattresses were worn and not comfortable. Sheets were worn and generally tired. They were clean, but basic.

Decent place

Nice but not a 4 star. Hotel was a bit worn out as well as the staff. Nothing too bad just a bit dreary.

Remarkable Hotel

I normally don't write reviews (good or bad), but I felt compelled to write about the Park Central Hotel. This was my second time staying at the hotel (I had a conference in the midtown area) and this time was even better than the first. This hotel is located in a perfect location (two blocks in one direction is Central Park... two blocks in the other direction is Times Square). Regardless if you're in NYC for business or pleasure, this hotel is great. I found the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Ellen at the front desk who epitomized stellar service, attentiveness, and friendliness. I have never had such great service in the states. The rooms are very clean, the in-hotel restaurant serves tasty food, and the room rates are a great bang for your buck. Whenever I'm in the City, I will make it a must to stay at Park Central Hotel.

OK for the price

The hotel was just barely OK. There was a smell in the hallways. The room didn't feel fresh. It seems like everything is dated. Doesn't feel like a 4 star hotel. Nonetheless, it was OK for what we paid. Would not stay there again though.

Had a great time in New York!

This was our second time staying at Park Central Hotel. The first visit (2 years ago) was a much better experience. Because we love the location, we brought guests with us on this trip, and we/they were disappointed in the experience. Staff was friendly and accomodating, but the ammenities of our room were sub par. The toilet backed up twice, one phone did not work, bathroom lighting was horrible, way too dark to get ready in. In our opinion the room looked drab and needs a face lift.

HORRIBLE!

Absolutely Terrible. I did have a reservation. They over sold their rooms and at 8 pm they told me to continue waiting and eventually a room would open up. I had no place to change into a suit for dinner and my play. The staff was avoiding all guest like the plague. Finally they gave us a room. We got to it and it was dirty still! The NY Hilton is a block away and all the difference in the world!
