Lovely UWS Hotel
We loved staying at On the Ave. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was impeccably clean, and the staff was lovely. The room we stayed in was fairly small, but that really is standard for NYC and should be expected! Breakfast at Serafina was also excellent.

If you need snacks during your stay, you are only 3 blocks away from Fairway, which in my opinion is the best supermarket in the US. You're also right by Zabar's.

NYC weekend
Excellent experience except that there is significant lobby renovation occurring. One bank of elevators could not be used. The remaining elevators were constantly delayed and full. You had to plan your exit and entrance into the hotel accordingly.

weekend in the big apple
reasonable rate, great location, lots to see and places to visit if you don't mind walking. Lots of good restaurants you can walk to. plenty of taxis around if you tire yourself out!!

Quick overnight
I often stay overnight in Manhattan and have considered this property before but never made the call. I did this time and was not sorry. Its currently being redone but the rooms (at least on my floor) are complete and fairly well done -- especially for a price that is usually below most comparable options. The room was quiet, although I don't know if any neighboring rooms were occupied, and the toiletries, towels and so forth quite good. A great food market is across the street and the in-hotel restaurant is a popular New York Italian eatery.

excellent, good taste, modern, clean &new
they rextra for internet! the door locks & latches on the rooms make a lot of noise which can b heard in the rooms all night long. but the elevators are quiet..we were right across. but.very asthetically appealing. and well done. loved the walk in shower, the quiet toilet and the stainless steel sink in the bathrom.

AWFULL SERVICE
I ARRIVED WITH MY 10 YEAR OLD CHILD AND 3 LUGGAGES. NO ONE CAME OUT TO HELP. THEY JUST STARED AT ME AND NO ONE HELP ME!! THE ROOM HAD A NOICE FROM THE AA, AND I ASK THEM IF THEY COULD FIX IT. THEY DIDN´T DO ANYTHING. I´VE BEEN TRAVELLING AROUND THE WORLD FOR A LONG TIME. THIS IS ONE OF MY WORST EXPERIENCES.

Perfect place to stay in NYC
I was visiting after moving away from Manhattan a few years ago. Great location on upper west side. Very close to the subway station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, perhaps on the small side. But it's NYC, so that is just the way it is! Zabar's is two blocks away for a great breakfast at this classic NYC spot. Definitely would stay here again without hesitation.

New york trip.
We were disappointed with the stay. There was construction going on both inside, and outside of the hotel. They are currently renovating the hotel, and there was a lot of noise during our stay. Had we know of this, we would have chosen to stay else-where. Was not a restful situation. In the future, you should be aware of, and inform your clients of Hotel, Motel construction.
