A few hiccups shouldn't make a bad trip
Upon calling to confirm late arrival due to 3 hour delay on flight, the hotel had name wrong for room. Finally got that worked out after a few phone calls. Good thing we had printed out confirmation. Air Conditioning was not working due to maintenance we were told. Had to open windows at night, little noisy needless to say. Overall, though, stay was good. Room was great. Would go back to this location again.

Disappointing
Great location! Thats about it. The hotel is under construction, no air conditioning or heat in the room. No hot water after 9AM. No room service, no anything. Lobby is a war zone with a constant scream of saws behind plastic backdrops. Staff could not be bothered with your issues. Website advertises "Kids eat free". Not true as the only food in the building is vending machines in the lobby.

Great Location
The Novotel, Times Square is the perfect hotel to explore the city. We had a room on the 24th floor overlooking Times Square and the view was awesome . There were ongoing improvements to the lobby area when we stayed at Easter but didn't bother us at all. There are enough bars within metres of the hotel to not worry about getting a drink. The rooms were very spacious, great double bed, and the cleaning staff were 1st class, although our bathroom was a little tired.

Stay away, under renovation and not worth the cost
Stayed at the hotel before, rated it highly. Being rebuilt - building work everywhere. No food, no minibars, unhappy guests. Stay away until finished! Not value for money at the moment

Great location for visiting the sights
Unfortunately, because this hotel is undergoing major refurb work, all their amenities were closed, ie. restaurant, fitness room, room service, that is why we have scored this category so low. However, staff were great and the location was excellent - a short walk to Times Square, Broadway and shops. Although we knew that refurb work was taking place, we weren't informed about the restaurant and room service closure until the day before we travelled and only then because I checked the hotel's website. Would have been nice to have been prepared for this beforehand. Overall a good place for a first visit to NY.

The Novotel was in a perfect location & a great base. Personally I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities available in the room. Renovations were being undertaken during our stay which meant the water had to be turned off between the hours of 10pm - 6am other than that it didn't interfere with our stay but think these changes may effect some people further in the future.

my second stay
Wonderful. Friendly Staff and Security. Room was nice. One water stain by window. Refrigerator available only if you wanted to pay for opening and moving products within(electronic weight scale located within). Was very pricey. $142/night during week. $379 during weekend stay. My wife and I like going dancing(Roseland Ballroom), so we paid the price to be close to our love. A wonderful place. Would definitely suggest to others to stay here. We have stay here twice and it again has been wonderful.

Great location
Right in the heart of the theater district and close to the MOMA. Short subway ride to Lincoln Center, which was helpful, when there were few available cabs. Very pricey pre-Xmas, but so was everything else. Very nice staff and helpful concierge.

Two good restaurants on 9th Ave, both under $100.00 with wine, before tip. "Hel's Kitchen"- upscale Mexican; and "Amarone"- Italian. Reservations advised for pre-theater.

Great Location - Average everything else.
Room was small - backed up against the elevator (right against it). Noisy enough that they should probably consider making it a storage room vs something for guests. Other than that, would say overall it was adequate. Location was incredible, however. 5 star location, 2-3 star accommodations.
