Great hotel in the downtown area

My husband and 2 boys were coming into town for Spring Break. My older son wanted to see the Status of Liberty and the Empire State Building. We chose this hotel because Midtown prices were sky high for Spring Break and we were really glad that we did. The hotel is right next door to the World Trade Center visitor center, a short walk to Battery Park, a short walk to the World Financial Center plaza and ferry terminal, a short walk to the river, and a short ride to Brooklyn. We found really great restaurants in this neighborhood and since we weren't downtown, they weren't crowded. Finally, there are several subway stops close by so it was really easy to get anywhere, including Brooklyn and midtown. The hotel itself was terrific. We had a beautiful view of the river, the staff was terrific, and the room was pretty and comfortable. If we need to be in the downtown area again, we'll gladly stay at this hotel.

Great overnight!!

Had a great experience. Came up from Philadelphia in 11/2 hr. Parked the car and 5min walk to Statue of Liberty. Than spent rest of day uptown after a quick ride on subway. We were upgraded to a suite. When the room wasnt ready the hotel comped us dinner and we had a special treat awaiting us for our return. Definitely will be back so easy to get to and get out of.

Small Rooms

Small rooms for the cost, too far down the city by cab or walk. Good staff, clean rooms.

Pricey but not astronomical and accessible to NYC sights

The Marriot Downtown NYC is a very nice hotel which is accessible to downtown NYC and even uptown with between a 10-25 taxi drive. You also have access to N, R, and Path trains within about 4 blocks. It is just behind the beautiful new World Trade Center building and 9/11 memorial. Our room had a beautiful view of the water and the window near the elevator had a majestic view of the new WTC building. It is a bit pricey for weekend holidays (~$350/night for labor day saturday night) but amazingly much cheaper than other city hotels. It's a great walk also, across the Brooklyn Bridge to the beautiful and scenic views at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

If you have three or more in your party, it's probably faster and cheaper to just take a taxi to most sites from the Marriot Downtown NYC

Beautiful View of 9-11 Memorial

We were on the 33rd floor and could see the reflection of the Memorial Waterfall in the windows of the building outside our window. When we requested a bit more coffee for the machine provided in the room, it was brought right up. Loved that there was a mini frig in the room. Staff was very helpful in finding a place to eat late at night.

Great location!

This hotel is right next to the 9/11 memorial and close to the Hudson waterfront, Battery Park, and the Hudson Greenway. We were in NYC to watch the start of a trans Atlantic Sailboat race that left from the North Cove Marina, which was also very close to the hotel. We were able to get anywhere we wanted to go by walking 1 or 2 blocks to the subway. We visited the Met, Central Park, Highline Park, The Village, NYU, Chelsea, and Soho. We took the subway and a bus to Laguardia Airport, which was also very convienient. The concierge at the hotel was very helpful and knowledgable.

Nice hotel

The hotel is nice; kind of standard. The omnipresence of construction in the area and the ubiquitous armed police officers in the area detracts from the enjoyment of the hotel. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our room lacked a hair dryer and a staff member delivered one very quickly. The first floor Starbucks was a nice amenity.
