Friendly staff, large room
My stay at the Murray Hill East Hotel was very satisfying. The staff was friendly, and I was upgraded to a suite...huge by NYC standards. The information sheet on neighborhood historic buildings was a nice touch, and there was a gourmet deli and other good places to eat in close walking distance.

Confortable and clean
This was my 1st stay at the Murray Hill East Suites. I would definitely stay again. I had the jr. queen suite. It was huge! very comfortable and very clean and quiet. I even had a small view of the East River. The hotel is on a shady side street on the east side of NYC within easy walking distance (1/2 block) to some great local east side coffee shops for breakfast and the subway and/or bus (at Lexington Ave) for shopping and/or sightseeing. Next time I will be with my husband - he'll love the roominess in the suite and the convenient location. I have already recommended this hotel to some friends and relatives - it's that good.

First Time New Yorker
My wife and me were leary of visiting New York City, but found the location and service very satisfying. It is in walking distance of most Manhattan sites, and once we learned how to use the subway, we were able to visit every significant site in 3 days. We will go back!

Great Place to Stay in Manhatten
We were very pleasantly surprized at how nice our stay turned out. This hotel is in a very convenient location. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was great and we would probably stay there again. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to put a small microwave oven in the rooms to heat up leftovers.

Great hotel!
I love this hotel! I have stayed many times for different lengths of time. The location is great and I like the spacious rooms. Having a kitchen is a nice convenience. Grand Central is so close with access in every direction. The rooms are very clean and I find the staff nice.

Excellent value!!
This hotel was perfect. It was a decent distance from the busy-ness of Times Square, Herald Square, etc and every night when we returned, we appreciated the tree-lined streets and less bustle in the neighbourhood. There were many delicatessants and grocery stores nearby where we could pick up breakfast supplies for the morning and snacks. The kitchen in the suite was really a plus!!!! (I love my coffee first thing in the morning.) The suites were large and kept very clean. The price point was perfect! I would definitely return to this hotel on my return visit.

There were no dining facilities in the hotel but great eateries were nearby to suit every budget and taste preferences. It was easy to eat healthy and lean but if you wanted to indulge, you could do that too.

Convenient, comfortable, and cheap.
I spent the weekend in NYC with two friends from college and since we're used to crashing on floors and couches on a regular basis, we weren't expecting much for the price we paid for the room. Let me just say that we were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We shared a junior suite and there was more than enough room for the three of us. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was FANTASTIC and the hotel is located on a very quiet street. The kitchenette was perfect for storing alcohol and leftovers. As many people have already said, the rooms are a little dated, but that was only a minor drawback that didn't really matter to us. Some people might be annoyed that Times Square is about 10-15 minutes away on foot, but, again, it didn't bother us and it's definitely doable if you don't have anyone in your group with mobility issues. If you're young, traveling with friends, looking for something cheap, don't need many amenities and don't plan on doing much in the room besides showering and sleeping, this is the perfect place for you.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Every kind of restaurant, cafe, and deli is within three or four blocks of the hotel. There's a fantastic grocery store around the corner and a nice wine/liquor shop about two blocks away, too. If, for whatever reason, none of the restaurants around the hotel appeal to you, check out Grand Central. There are a bunch of great places to eat in there, plus the building is incredible and it's worth a visit for that reason alone.

It's a value
This hotel is great - it's actually a transformed apt building. The suites are former one-bed apt units with full kitchens and big bedrooms. One thing it is not is ritzy - the decor is very standard, but king bed was great, furnishings in excellent shape, bathroom was spotless an all in working order and location blocks from Grand Central was great. Neighborhood had plenty of dinner options. We will come back. The rate - about $150 night with all of the taxes - makes is a real steal.
