No frills - which is how I wanted it.
When I was looking to book this room, I wanted the most affordable hotel in a specific area that wasn't a hole in the wall. La Quinta was a perfect match. My trip was business, not pleasure, and I knew I wouldn't be at the hotel very much, except to sleep. The room was small - there was basically a one foot wide gap around the bed. But again, this is what I expected. The bathroom was pretty nice and the bed was very comfortable, other than the pillows (but I find pillows at EVERY hotel are uncomfortable - they're never firm). The amenities were nice. The staff was very nice. And the price was great. I was actually surprised how affordable the hotel was for its location - a block away from the Empire State Building and pretty close to Times Square. i guess to summarize - this isn't a luxury hotel where you want to hang out there, but if you just want a cheap place to lay down at the end of a night, it's the perfect place for the price.

First Time In The City
I had a great experience! The guy that checked me in noticed I had on dogtags and found out I was in the military and gave me the military discount! Hotel was not far from Madison Sq Garden, the Empire St Bldg was right around the corner the other direction, and broadway, which was why I was there, was only a few blocks away! I would definitely stay there again!

first time in the Big Apple
I had to arrange a trip across the state to NYC in three days. On a shoe-string. This hotel was an integral part of me being able to avoid sleeping on the benches of Central Park. The room itself is average, but the nice end of average, but the staff were fantastic. Especially the gentleman who hailed me a cab as I left. Good location, right off a subway line... ten blocks from the Port Authority. I have nothing to complain about.

great location, middling everything else
We had a so-so stay at the La Quinta, but I can't say I'm surprised... it's a conveniently located midtown motel, so they're going to charge a high price for not-great quality. The breakfast options were decent, and the rooftop bar is nice. Unfortunately our room was not very clean, and the construction (which we were not warned about by the staff) was disruptive. Overall, I'd say our stay was "fine," but not worth the money. I probably wouldn't choose La Quinta again, but if you're going to be out in the city and just need a place to crash, it's an okay choice.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
La Quinta is in the middle of Korea town, and there are a million delicious food options nearby! Try the food court just down the street for a wide selection of interesting treats.

Best hotel and location
Friendly staff, perfect location in Manhattan. Near the subway and Penn Station. Right in the middle of Lil Korea with great food and the best Philly Cheese steak cart on the corner. You can easily walk to Times Square and Chelsea. The hotel has thought of all amenities of convenience: free wi-fi, free breakfast, business center, roof top bar with a brilliant view of the Empire State building. I've stayed here 2 different weeks in the last 2 months and is by far my favorite hotel in NYC.

Wouldn't do it again
Got this hotel, sight unseen, and was very disappointed. Dreary little place, dingy lobby, desk staff dressed like something you'd find on the highway in the middle of nowhere, pathetic gym, room without character, and the "free" food in the morning is hard to call a "breakfast" it's such low quality. Hey, if you're going to NYC, get some place with some urban vibe and better amenties. This place has absolutely none.

Great Bargain for mid-town Manhattan
This hotel is smack dab in the middle of Little Korea and right on the edge of the fashion district. There's a subway stop at the end of the block, 8 minutes to Penn Station, a short walk to TImes Square. I will stay here again when I'm in New York. The room was a little small, but, hey, it's New York and it was clean, nicely appointed, relatively quiet and very comfortable.
