Rooms are LOUD - you will not be able to sleep

Don't plan on getting any sleep if your room faces either 11th Ave. or 48th st. There is just not enough (or any) insulation between the inside of the room and the outside world. I don't mind city noise but this was ridiculous. The noise starts at about 10pm and goes until the sun comes up. 11th and 48th is a horrible neighborhood at night. If you enjoy hearing the following noise all night, then this hotel is for you: Loud cars blasting their stereos, trucks flying down 11th Ave., the clip clop of horses from the horse and buggy stable on 48th St., a tour bus staging area also on 48th St., endless police sirens, drunk people arguing and then fighting and more. It would have been quieter to sleep in the center of Grand Central Station. When I told the manager about the noise, he said that he's heard it before and the way to avoid this was to pay a higher price for a higher level floor. I'd like to think that the $300 a night I spent included a quiet nights sleep, but I guess you have to pay extra for that.

Overrated

I was there for Valentine's Day weekend with my spouse and although the hotel is aesthetically pleasing. When we arrived in our room the cable on the television didn't work and this was not the only occurrence of this during our stay. There were lots of lights in the room that also did not work during our stay. The first night we were there we called the concierge service and requested ice that took thirty minutes and two phone calls to get to our room. This didn't compare very well to other Kimpton Hotels around the country that I have stayed i.

Birthday in NYC

I have never had a poor stay at a Kimpton, so when I was booking my birthday weekend in NYC, I knew I had to stay at one. As usual, the lobby was gorgeous and the staff was very friendly. But what I was MOST excited about (the "suite with a view" @ Ink48 that I had splurged on) was very disappointing. The pictures of "The Hudson Suite" (on the website) included wall-to-wall views of the city, and when we arrived to the room, there was one tiny window at the end, with a view of a car dealership and rooftop. I had purchased this suite not because we needed all that space, but because the views looked glorious. I was shattered.Between the hotel let-down and the nightmare we had with the SuperShuttle ([...] that included us being screamed-at and threatened by the driver...who went to the wrong hotel and ended up driving us around NYC for 2hrs before we reached our destination)[...]

A Little Noisy - Great view from the top

Ink 48's staff was quite courteous and much appreciated. We enjoyed the wine hour and excellent city view from the lounge! A bit of street noise from our third floor room.

Great staff, drab location

This hotel is brand new, and some things are not yet finished. as a result there was still construction going on. That was not disruptive and the staff couldn't be nicer, accomodating and attentive. However, there was no restaurant and there are no real eateries in the area of any sort. The few cold items they have at room service are really a joke and not worth the money or wait. the hotel is surrounded by car dealerships; not the most exciting area for a visitor, nor the most comforting to walk through at night as it's rather desolate. Given the lack of amenities, I think the hotel is a bit overpriced.

Fabulous stay.

Great hotel staff, stylish, clean and comfortable rooms. Only negatives were the air quality in the room was a little dry and the in-room minibar fridge was very loud! Easily fixed because the hotel will provide a humidifier and we just switched off the fridge. Those are super minor complaints to what was a really comfortable stay, and we were really well looked after. The hotel staff couldn't be more attentive. I would definitely go back again.

Convenient, great front desk service

We came to NYC to visit family and to see a show. Ink 48 is easy to drive to/from down the West side of Manhattan. Excellent front desk and bellhop service. Many good restaurants 2 blocks away on 9th Ave., got a good recommendation from the hotel staff and they also steered us to Birdland for a great jazz set. The theater district is 6-8 blocks from the hotel. Only downside was inefficient service at breakfast -- pleasant enough, and there were plenty of servers on shift, they just didn't work together very well.

Great Spacious Hotel

Checked in for a few days after our wedding. Bathroom and room were nice, spacious, and clean. Staff was courteous and friendly. Cheap lot across the street for parking. Nice view. Would definitely recommend this hotel to someone - and this coming from a picky hotel customer.
