Worst hotel ever
Our first room was so bad we called to change rooms but had no choice but to upgrade at a $25 a night hit. Then we had pen writing on our comforter then asked for more pillows and it took over an hour to get them. Check out and in took for ever. Then there was the bag check and rest rooms down in the dungeon of the basement. This at a cost of $4 a bag.

Awesome location - perfect budget hotel
My 2nd time staying here. Location couldn't be better. Room very clean and staff very helpful. Don't see the point in paying more for somewhere to stay in New York as you're only in the room to sleep as there is so much to see and do in the city! Next time i'm back in NYC, I'll be staying here for sure. 10/10 on value and location. Great place.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Avoid Lindy's next door. Overpriced and there are nicer diners near by. Try Andrew's Coffee House 2 blocks north on way to Times Square. Cheap and great food all day.

Location, location, location!!
I will definitely be staying here on my next visit to NYC. The location was perfect! I took the train from Newark International Airport and it dropped me off at Penn Station. All I had to do was literally cross the street and I was there. Fast service to check in! I was on the 6th floor, the room was neither big nor small. Everything worked. Obviously it's an old hotel but there's a charm about that. They have plenty of elevators. Everything is just a walk away! Whether it be Downtown or Central Park. I loved it!

Barely Comfortable
The hotel has location going for it - I must say. The biggest issue that that the building is in shambles - the walls are cracked as you walk the halls; rooms & bathrooms are small & dingy. The place is not dirty mind - but then it shows that it is a 2 star hotel. I could not get room service for 2 days; there were rowdy noises EVERY night during my 3 day stay; the towels were old & almost torn... So if you are looking to save money but live in a shady place albeit great location- Hotel Pennsylvania is your choice

great location
Besides the location the hotel rooms were in need of cleaning and updating the bathrooms had a prison feel to them. I could have a conversation with the neighbors through the wall, it made the trip interesting and the price was right!

Looks great on the outside.
Beautiful lobby. Originally got a room on one of the lower floors and was surprised at the darkness of the hallway and the size of the room. It was tiny. I am small and i barely fit in the tiny shower. The room was unusually small. I requested a different room and was moved to one of the upper floors. What a difference! If you are going to stay here, request an upper floor.

Very expensive to eat here. Restaurants within walking distance but be prepared to part with some real money.
