Hotel Pennsylvania

I though everything was in bad shape and dirty. Also, had a few cockroaches.

It was not too dirty but it's old hotel with a new carpet. But the new carpet smell is not pleasant definitely. Its location is only reason that I would choose this hotel.

I liked the location, but the hotel should provide water and coffee to it guests.

I tried to ignore poor reviews and was sadly disappointed on reaching this hotel.We were initially given the key to a dirty unmade up room,down a long poorly lit corridor,full of doors that looked like they'd seen better days.On complaining we were immediately offered another key to a different room on another floor.This time it was cleaner but the interior was in poor condition,walls marked and chipped,clock radio not functioning properly,old furnishings,no heat in the room.No safe to store anything in or a kettle to make hot drinks.The staff seemed to expect complaints and were sympathetic.The cleaners were very good and did all they were asked. I needed 2 extra pillows and these were delivered to our room very quickly.The location was very good and near lots of shops,Penn Station and subway was just across the road.We ate out everyday because meals were so cheap.Taxis were available outside the door and also Bus Tour Agents were outside to sell tickets.All in all I'd go to new York again but definitely choose somewhere else to stay.I'd read reviews of the Corridors resembling scenes from 'The Shining'.That's exactly how we felt as we walked along them.I wouldn't feel safe there alone at night.

A big hotel in the centre of NYC should do better. Location is excellent - at the heart of NYC, best street in my opinion. But check-in at 15:00 was way too late for my liking, and we joined throngs of other hotel guests waiting. Therefore the lobby is always crowded....not classy. No bathtub, just a 'moody' shower. We ended up having our daily baths elsewhere. The hotel should serve at least breakfast!

We stayed at the Pennsylvania for 5 nights. Was the worst hotel we have stayed at. For starters the staff at check in we're very unpleasant, no smile, no eye contact and good luck getting more that a 1-2 word answer. Room was tiny, heater didn't work TV was 20 years old.

Excellent location for many New York sights, especially the Empire State Building. We chose the hotel due to it's proximity to Madison Square Garden as we had a concert and hockey match to attend. (Cross the road in front of the hotel and you are at MSG!!) Very basic hotel with comfortable bed, bathroom could do with a re-fit. Has a coffee shop and is joined to a Lindy's diner, also plenty of other eating places close by. Good check out time of 12pm and can leave luggage securely for up to 24 hours for only $4 a case. Rooms cleaned daily and helpful concierge desk that can book anything needed. Very busy hotel which attracts a lot of younger groups but good value for a basic good location hotel. We would stay again if we needed to be near MSG.

If you're into location...then this hotel is good...no frills..but does the job....

The location is perfect. It is wonderful that we could have our dogs with us in the room. However, the amenities and service were substandard.

before going myself and my girlfriend read a lot of horror reviews but the hotel was fine. cheap n cheerful, ur not paying for d ritz. It was clean and the location was perfect for getting around manhattan
