The Pennsylvania Hotel New York is located at 33rd Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Catch up on work at the 24-hour business center, which features printers and high-speed internet access, or after a long day at a meeting use your complimentary guest passes to work out at Bally Total Fitness. Located next door to the hotel, it offers up-to-the-minute workout equipment, as well as a swimming pool and spa.

Affordable and within walking distance of various New York tower blocks like the Empire State Building and the vibrant oasis of Madison Square Garden, the Pennsylvania is a smart choice for leisure guests too, with central rooms and a budget price tag.

Sometimes known as the Hotel Pennsylvania or Hotel Penn, the accommodations here were opened in 1919 and have had several other names over the years, including the Statler-Hilton Hotel, after the original manager Ellsworth Statler.

Hints and tips
Canine enthusiasts should plan a visit to coincide with the Westminster Dog Show, an annual event where dogs are put through their paces at nearby Madison Square Garden. Even better, the hotel itself is dog-friendly and there are no size restrictions, although there is an additional fee for your pet to stay. Make sure you check with the front desk before bringing along your furry friend.

This is not a comprehensive list of fees. Any amounts listed above may not include taxes and are subject to change.

Midweek Getaway

I visited New York City to attend a concert. I selected this hotel because it is literally across the street from Penn Station. The building is old but obvious efforts are being made to maintain it. However, my room did have some cosmetic challenges. The towel rack in the bathtub had a noticeable rust spot. There were also scuff marks on the outside of the bathtub and on my bedroom wall. I didn't mind too much since I was only there one night. The other drawback was waiting a half hour in line to check in, not due to staff shortages. Staff was courteous and professional.

great location

the hotel is so centrally located opposite penn station so handy for LIRR & subways! It's very basic & old but was generally clean... No wifi available but is an extra charge. Was grand for a few days but I prob wouldn't take my children there or stay longer than a few nights.

staff are slow, but room was ok! Fantastic location!

After reading the reviews we were a little dubious about this hotel. When we arrived we did wait for about 30 mins to check in. When checking in they ask you to sign a disclaimer which basically says they're not liable if anything goes missing out of the room!! And to to use a safety deposit box in the lobby! This made us a little uneasy. The hotel needs to improve its security, there are no checks to get up to the rooms, you don't even need to use your keys to use the elevator so random people off the street could potentially just walk around. The room was clean, just out dated. The hotel is old and you can tell, it's in serious need of a refurb. There were lose wires around the room and electricals that didn't look too safe! The bed was supposed to be a double but it was on the small size and they should supply more than 2 pillows. Also, the shower is an experience, it goes hot and cold and sometimes the water wouldn't turn off - again a clear indication the hotel needs to be updated! Location is fantastic! The hotel is opposite Maddison Square gardens and Penn station so almost every main subway line is nearby. It's very easy to nip back to the hotel if you have shopping and as you walk down the street you see the Empire State. The hotel does not provide free wifi, the charge was $11 a day but there is a starbucks just across the street. The guys in the luggage room were lovely, but the hotel charges you $5 per bag! Overall, check in staff are slow, security needs a lot of improvement, room was clean but in need of a refurb. Location is fantastic!

Great location. Definitely go back.

We had a great stay. Although the rooms need a bit of a do up our room was super clean. The location is fab and we found the staff very helpful and friendly. The wifi was a bit hit and miss, however, that could have been our end and not theirs. We look forward to returning soon.

An old hotel in a great location

Stay in New York was good. Hotel is in awesome location. The hotel is big so long hallways. I don't think we could of been any further away from an elevator if we tried. Hotel is old and needs some TLC - but in NYC it was a good value for where we stayed.

The towels was fresh and clean. It was an amazing comfort. It had a great 1950's feel. I felt like a mobster or a gangster in that time.
