Great ovation and price. Check in and check out takes a long time...you can wait over 30 minutes to check in. Given the price you can overlook things like a pone not working. Nothing elegant, just clean small rooms!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I was shocked that in the year 2013, the USA are offering a hotel of this standard. Upon arrival at our room, we seriously considered booking elsewhere regardless of the cost. The room was dark, smelly, dirty and very dated. It had nothing going for it. I was scared to walk bare foot on the carpets. The bathroom was grubby & the shower curtain filthy. Thankfully, we were out all day seeing so spent very little time here. My friend's bed was lumpy & rolling off to one side. We were scared to touch the blankets. The entrances to the hotel smelt of urine as did our 7th floor corridor. The stressed out staff were either snappy & unpleasant or completely nonchalant. Had it not been for the fact NYC is such an amazing place, this hotel could have completely ruined our holiday.

Awful - old - big room but terrible shape
The room was terrible. I was looking for an outlet for my phone and pulled the bed away from the wall. There were holes in the wall (RM 319), and it looked like stuffing was falling out. The bedspread was dusty. It looked like a room out of the 1960's. Will not stay there again.

Great location, that's all
Staff member told us our king size bed was unavailable and placed us in a terrible room on third floor. Good thing we spent every day and evening away from hotel. Worst room ever. Enjoyed the city and location.

Great location, but that's about it!
The room was small and not impressive; however you cannot beat the location! It was simply a place to rest your head at the end of that day so got the job done. Thanks Hotel Penn!

Good location, bad hotel
The location of this hotel is great, however for the price of the rooms it is not worth it. The hotel is located directly across from MSG and Penn station. It's old and seems run down. I would not stay here again. It is far too overpriced for what you get. Everything in the room and the entire hotel is old and in need of update. The sheets on the bed had wear spots and the carpet looked like it had been there since they built the hotel. I have stayed in NY before and the hotels I stayed in were for a better value and they were much nicer and also in good locations.

Time-saving tip:
Not Applicable
If you fly into JFK take the airtrain and subway over a taxi. We took a taxi from the airport to our hotel and spent almost $65 including tip and with traffic it took over two hours to go into the city. On the way back to the airport we did the subway which came up to around $7.50 and took only an hour. The subway was easy to navigate and a time and money saver.

Great location, very basic hotel
Terrificly convenient Midtown location at a great price. The hotel is worn and old - don't stay here if you plan to spend much time in the room.
