Metro Grill
The Metro Grill serves lunch and dinner M-F, dinner only S-S. Our bar and cocktail lounge are open until 11:00pm Sun-Thur, and 12:am F-Sat.
Rooftop Bar
The roof terrace is open seasonally for our guests during most daytime hours. During the evenings, weather permitting, a bar that is also open to the public operates and while guests are certainly welcome, they need to make reservations with the restaurant for a table. On rare occasions the roof is booked as a party space and access can be limited or restricted during those periods (usually just a few hours per event).

Well situated hotel.

First time visit to New York, concierge gave us a free street map but we had to ask. Free wifi was very handy for keeping in touch. Good selection in the complimentary breakfast which was open from 6.30 am to 11 am, you could take out hot drinks as they supplied covered cups. Room was very spacious but that may have been a stroke of luck as we were given a room with wheelchair access. Well sited in Midtown so all sights within walking distance but close to bus stops and subway if you needed them. Room cleaned and towels changed daily, no complaints there. Metro grill had changed the menu so didn't have a vegetarian option which was dusappointing.

Perfect location, very comfortable

Just returned from a wonderful few days in NY. We did all the usual things and found the hotel great to come back to at the end of each day. The room had tea/coffee machine, comfortable bed and smallish onshore. The complimentary continental breakfast was great, the staff were all very friendly and the free tea/coffee on tap downstairs was great. Don't miss the view of the Empire State Building from the roof; also enjoyed the platter of six house beers in the heartland brewery pub under the ESB. Can't wait to return someday!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If you visit the Empire State Building, I recommend skipping the museum and Sky Ride (bad movie). I thought they were huge time waters and I would have been happier just to go straight up to see the city from the top.

great location for break

Had a nice stay in clean hotel with central location, within 800 metres of macy's. Only minus point is if you are allocated a room that is st front of hotel - the traffic noise can be heard. We asked for a move - it cist an additionsl 65 dollars per night, but well worth the cost. Staff were excellent. Will definitely return to this hotel.

Great place for weekend break

We were upgraded to a room with 2 double beds upon check in which was great as it gave us all the space we needed for shopping bags Unfortunately didnt make it to the rooftop bar or even down to breakfast but out of the 5 or 6 hotels Ive stayed at previously in NY this was definitely my favourite, so central to everything....will definitely return

Great hotel for theatergoers

My husband and I stay at the Hotel Metro frequently and I almost hate to write about how much I like it for fear that others will make it their favorite too! It's at a great location...near Herald Square, clean and nicely decorated in an art-deco kind of style, the staff is always very friendly and helpful and the rates are very reasonable. There's also a continental breakfast included. Great rooftop to explore, adjacent to the Empire State Building.

New Yorker on the town for the nite.

Hotel was greeat and in a great location. Being from the New York area I was nervous but made a difference.i now know what ppl mean by small rooms for the city.WOW. Small it was but honestly, it served its purpose.Went a first date and decided to just stay the nite.it made the moment. The location is very good and close to all.the view of the Empire State building made my date nite even better. At nite with the glow of the Christmas colors, AWESOME.go before 2am the lights go out by then. try this Hotel. I will again for sure.Service was nice and the room was very clean. I live in the outer boroughs and would stay here for the great reason of convenience. Stayed on the day the world was suppose to end 12-21-12. What better place to be....

Shop 'til you drop in comfort

Booked a standard double/twin room but they only had double rooms available, when i explained that i was staying with my mother-in-law they upgraded us so that we could have two double beds on the 11th floor. Beds very comfortable, great shower and bathroom, very clean, sheets were changed each day, not very economically friendly but shows a thorough clean was done each day. Free continental breakfast, unlimited tea, coffee throughout the day. Tuesday evenings they have cheese and wine in the lounge for free... we only came across this by accident and there is a sign on the door saying closed for a private function but it is closed to the public, hotel guests can go in. Great location, go up to the roof deck and you are underneath the Empire State Building. Gym looked good too (although didn't use it). Located right next to subway and Victoria's Secret opposite Macy's. I will definitely stay here again.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The subway is right next to the hotel, buy a metrocard and you can get to all the main spots really quickly on the subway. Although the taxis are good, you can sit in traffic for ages during rush hour.
