uncomfortable & small

The hotel was extremely small the rooms were tiny even the elevators were extra small. From our seventh floor room we had a beautiful view of a brick wall. The cleaning service was not one, wiping out the glasses then placing them back on the counter.

Not what I expected

First of all, there were two reasons why I picked this hotel. One was location, and the second was the continental breakfast that was included. Well, when I got to the hotel, I was told that breakfast was not included. I called the number and they said there was nothing they could do about it. Since i had planned a five day stay, it cost me an extra $ 60-150 for the minimum breakfast foods. I was also told that there was a minibar, but that if we took anything out of it for more than 10-15 seconds, it would be charged to my credit card. They had wonderfully overpriced items like the $ 11 nuts and $10 water. Although I asked them to take all this junk out, they said it would have to wait. They never removed it. Consequently, I had no refrigeration for anything I wanted to bring to the room. Speaking of the room, there were two of us and we booked a king or double occupancy. What we got was a double bed. After a couple of nights of two of us sleeping in a bed meant for one, both of us developed a strange rash on our legs. I can only guess what the cause of this was, but it did come from the bed. Not only was the bed small and uncomfortable, the room was tiny. The shower was the smallest I have ever been in. A contortionist might have been able to touch his knees, but not his feet. We only got one clean washcloth per day for two people, although there were stacks of them in the exercise area. There was not even a restroom on the ground floor for guests. The location of the hotel and the difficulties of booking another hotel at such short notice was the only reason I stayed in the hotel. The staff, especially the countermen was not overly rude, but they were not at all helpful. The exception was a young man named Dan who helped us hail a cab and helped us with our bags when we left. He was the only bright spot in the whole place. Needless to say, I feel cheated by this hotel. The pictures on its website do not indicate how small the place really is. -

Below Expectations

Our greatest disappointment was with the size of the room. There was a very small armoire that wouldn't even hold a full length coat. Consequently, our room was piled with clothes suitcases in every available space on the floor and windowsill for the duration of our stay. Otherwise, the room was very clean and the location was excellent. Other minor disapointment include: The shower glass didn't contain the overspray and the floor was soaked after every shower. The television picture was poor. The view was of an alleyway. On the last two nights of our stay a large group booked more than one room on our floor. The opened and closed doors and shouted between rooms until the early morning hours. On the first night this was bearable. But, we had to be up at 5 am on the last night and we called the front desk on several occasions only to be told that there was nothing that they could do. Overall, we feel that the cleanliness of the room and the location made up for the minor complaints.

I've had bigger closets

The rooms are so small that they are claustrophobic. Not even room for a desk or full size luggage. Housekeeping did not replace my used glasses or coffee cup. Take a pass.

Pretty Average

The hotel was pretty average: walls were paper thin, internet connection was very poor, space was small-but that's New York. The whole time I was there, two of three of the elevators were out of order. The location was good, I was able to walk to Times Square. There was nothing special about it, I will not be returning.

good location

hotel location was great, close to a metro station. was not sure about the room cleanliness...noticed the carpet was not vacummed (or not well?), for some reason there was no hot water in the mornings so had to take my shower at night...one night i ordered room service and when i asked the staff if tip was included in the bill he said 'no' but it was...TV reception was spotty and until mid-night or so there was this loud generator sound that was hard to ignore. On my next travel to NYC not sure i'll choose this hotel.

Dirty

This hotel is filthy. It appears that they have not cleaned the carpeting in years, there was dust on the lamp and all over the bathroom, and when i arrived at my first room and pulled back the sheets, there was hair all over the sheets. So i moved to another room. The sheets were clean, but the rest of the room was dirty as well. This certainly is NOT a 4-star hotel.
