Hotel Mela
My wife and I spent Valentines day there. The first room was too small with no view. The staff was excellent in getting us another room ( larger but with a smaller bed ) It wasn't a bad stay, but for the price we paid, I expected better rooms. Finally we were not expecting the deal to we got to be a per person deal. We could've stayed at another midtown hotel for the same price with a better room and better view.

A hotel room could not get any smaller than this, but nothing can beat the location. The staff was great. They were very helpful. And I can see myself returning to the hotel again on my next visit. Breakfast is part of the room service but it makes more sense to go downstairs next door to the bistro where the breakfast comes from. It will save you 30 percent off of your bill.

Good deal, tiny room, clean, nice.
We got the 165 sq foot room, Superior Queen. It was tiny, just the size of the queen bed. But the room was clean, bathroom clean, and bed comfortable. The greatest thing about Hotel Mela was its location, the quiet room, and the great French restaurant, the Bistro, which Hotel Mela owns next door. The food was great, and it was wonderful to go there for a late night meal after seeing a Broadway musical. We also had a great breakfast there the next morn.

Mela
My experience with this hotel (first time visit to property; been to NYC many, many times) was superb! The staff was exceptional, particularly the concierge (Barbara) and the bellman who was working with her that morning (regret that I failed to get his name). They both went out of their way to assist me. I will definitely try to reserve a room here for my next stay.

Last Minute NYC getaway
This hotel is located centrally in Times Square. It's close to everything that you could want to do. The staff were impeccable and so helpful. The rooms are small, but very clean and had everything I needed. Everyone that worked here was so friendly and helped with suggestions and things to do in NYC. I highly reccomend this hotel, and would come back again!!!!

Solid value in a very good location
I usually am in NY on business, but took my daughter for a night to see Manhattan. We got a very good price on the Mela and the location, just a block off Times Square, was perfect. The hotel is compact: small lobby, small elevators, compact rooms. It's clean and recently renovated, though there are some threadbare edges, worn paint, etc. Comfortable bed, free WiFi. Staff were cheerful and informal. The location is close enough to the Times Square subway station and the Port Authority that you can save a bit on transportation from any airport and around the city. It's not an amazing hotel but it seems well run, it's clean and (for the location) quiet, and a very good value for Midtown as long as you don't require really big room for a family.
