Great location!

This hotel is located very close to Times Square and the theater district, but is set back, and very quiet. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Literally a half block from Times Square

We were looking for a terrific location so we could walk to shows, walk to shopping, walk to good eating, etc. This was it! Friendly, helpful staff. Very tiny room, but we did ask for a king sized bed and got it. It doesn't have a restaurant but there are nice restaurants next door and across the street. There was no view from our window, but we weren't there to spend five days in the room, anyway.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

We recommend taking a double-decker city bus tour first thing, getting a feel for distances in Manhattan so you can plan your days. That bus stop, the last minute (discounted) ticket office for all Broadway shows, as well as a NYC tourist information center, are only a block from Hotel Mela.

A very good choice

For a few days visit, the location, cleanliness, and courtesy of staff were very good. The room was small but clean, comfortable and bright. For the tourist, it is centrally located yet quiet.

Loved our stay

Even though we started off opening a door to a room that had 2 twin beds when I requested a Queen the front dest was notified immediately, and we were given a much bigger room that had a separate living area. Although my husband and I only stayed there 2 nights, I'd have to say we both didn't have any complaints. Location was key also, we were literally just 1 block away from times square which was amazing and we felt like we were almost in the center of most areas. The other great thing was the front desk was nice enough to give us a room high enough to stay away from the outside noise. They had comfortable beds which was a bonus. We would definitely stay there again.

Pretty Average

The hotel was pretty average: walls were paper thin, internet connection was very poor, space was small-but that's New York. The whole time I was there, two of three of the elevators were out of order. The location was good, I was able to walk to Times Square. There was nothing special about it, I will not be returning.

Awesome location!

Great location to jump on the Grayline double decker, ice skating in Rockefellar Center, and just being in the vibe with the crowds all along Times Square...shopping and dining out. Awesome location for parents w/ kids.

Nice location

Wellsituated hotel nearby Times Square. Small but nice room. Would like a fridge for own water though, instead of a minibar with expensive items that was sensor controlled.

I've had bigger closets

The rooms are so small that they are claustrophobic. Not even room for a desk or full size luggage. Housekeeping did not replace my used glasses or coffee cup. Take a pass.

Tiny at Times Square

This hotel is about as small as you can get right off Times Square. Positives: clean, hip, nice service, in the middle of a great location for tourists of business. Cons: tiny, limited amenities...

Best Location in Town!

This mini-hotel was very nicely appointed. No bar or restaurant, but they did have room service. The location could not be beat, just a half block from Times Square, yet on a quite street with nice restaurants - not too touristy. The only problem we had was that the doors were very noisy, so when MANY people left before 7:30 in the morning, we heard every single one of them slam the door. The location was so great that I'd probably stay there again, though.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Great restaurants on the street, Long Room wasa very cozy pub with authentic, yet adventurous Irish fare, such as chicken cottage pie with boursin mashed potatoes.
