All about the location
Even though this is in a fantastic location, the staff, hotel amenities need work. I have stayed all over Manhattan, but at this hotel, the staff makes you feel as though YOU are doing them a favor to stay there.

Good but not quite great
The good things about this hotel are: 1) The amazingly comfortable beds 2) Rooftop pool which is heated 3) Staff friendliness and helpfulness 4) Location in Meatpacking, lots of nightlife Negative points are: 1) Small gym 2) Welcome when we arrived was pretty unfriendly but that's down to one member of staff who we never saw again 3) Pricey given the size of room

Style over substance
Hotel room was large for NY and the location was good for nightlife. Whilst it's great to have a top floor bar, it's such a popular destination, that it's overcrowded and turns into a very loud club. So loud, that even staying 10 floors below it, we still heard it very clearly, every night. For such a premium nightspot it's also not kept very clean and isn't that nice an evironment, it's simply selling itself on it's 14th floor location. Overall, the hotel part is good, with nice rooms and it's run well, but the banging bar upstairs lets it down.

LOVE the area!
Another wonderful experience @ the Gansevoort Meatpacking! The staff was very pleasant and helpful :) Howver, the non-smoking room smelled like smoke through the vents and when we asked for help with unlocking the safe, it took 30 minutes for someone to come to our room and help us. Other than that, wonderful experience! See you again in August!

Tacky!
Pictures on website are deceiving, rooms are tacky outdated and tiny. Tasteless pics all over the wall of models. Overpriced. The one star is for the neighborhood.
