Location

Book this hotel if you are looking for a great location in Manhattan, just off Union Square, and just need a hotel to sleep in. The location could not be bettered. However, the actual hotel isn't the best. The rooms are very small, which is okay, but the walls are so thin that you can hear every cough and snore from your neighbouring rooms. I had to ask to be moved to another room because a neighbour snored so loud. The rooms are quite clean although i have been bitten a few times by bed bugs. There toilets are shared but is almost always free. The TV channels are mostly latin and some do not work at all. The hotel serves no food but good local areas to eat in. The staff could be friendlier. Overall, it is a small, rather charming old place. If you plan to explore new york all day and just need a hotel to sleep in, then this couldn't be bettered for the price and location.

Good place

Good deal and location only two blocks from Union Square. Plenty of little stores around, quiet neighborhood, quiet hotel in general (perfect for a good sleep after a whole day exploring NYC), good soundproofing... one of the only hotels where I haven't heard any noise from the rooms next to mine, helpful staff, the hotel feels small and cozy. Bathrooms are shared but I never had to wait and they were kept clean. If you're looking for an affordable place to sleep and are out all day, this place is perfect.

Just an overnight stay

My husband and I were just staying for a night.Overall, there wasn't really anything really bad about our stay that would stop me from staying a second or third time if I needed to. Pros: -Awesome staff -Our room was actually roomy -Had our own sink -Clean -Working A/C -Kept our bags safe twice while we weren't checked in. (1. We arrived too early to check in, but they kept our bags for us so we could still go around town. 2. After we checked out we still had time before our bus to go home came so they kept ours bags again) Cons: -A/C was right next to the side of the bed so it was blowing in our faces. -Shared bathroom (2 separate rooms for the whole floor with one toilet and one shower each. However, I never had to wait to use it. ) -towels are a tad thin -bed isn't the most comfy thing ever

Hostel

Shared bathrooms and small rooms make this place feel like a hostel more than a hotel. If you can find a better deal, take it. Not a bad place if you absolutely can't find anywhere else to stay for the price.

Just as advertised; great location

You are getting a "bathroom down the hall" but that's not a big deal; I never saw anyone on my floor in two days and the staff kept everything spotlessly clean. The location is the best part of this hotel. It is just a couple blocks from Union Square. Besides lots of things to do in the area, that means easy access to all the subway lines. The window a.c. unit was loud, but it worked well on a really hot day and it doesn't take long to cool down a tiny hotel room.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Loop, a great place for Japanese sushi, is just a block away on 3rd. Another great ethnic restaurant is Saigon Market on University Place, just a couple blocks south of Union Square.
