Holiday Inn Express NEW YORK - MANHATTAN WEST SIDE

We stayed for 1 night and the hotel only opened 4 days before we got there so there are lots of improvements needed. The location is convenient and he rooms were clean but very small. The problems started when we came back to check in at 4PM. When we tried to retrieve our checked bags, the employee did not know which bags were ours even though they were tagged with numbers. We had 2 rooms and wanted them on the same floor but they only had 1 room available that was clean, so one of the staff had to manually check the 2nd room before they can give it to us. We waited 1 hour for the 2nd room. One of the rooms had a tv remote that had no batteries so they had to contact maintenance to provide the batteries that never came. Each time you tried to call the front desk, the phones would never be answered and the lines were 10-15 people deep at the front desk with their own issues. There were other guests sitting in the hallway waiting for their rooms to be available.

We enjoyed our stay at holiday inn. Location was perfect, it was 5 minutes walking distance to the center of manhattan. Customer service was impressive, friendly staff. Breakfast was good, filled ourselves with toast, muffins, eggs etc... If I visited New York again I would surely book holiday inn again.

I looked on Online for a good deal on a hotel because I was bringing my family to the city, who are first timers. There were a few cheaper hotels but I chose to go with a large chain hotel such as the Holiday Inn Express, thinking that it would be better than any single-location hotel. Boy, was I wrong. I wish I could go back on time and have chosen one of those small chain places. I arrived at the hotel which was crowed and cramped at check-in and was greeted by friendly staff. Come To find out, they booked my room for Four with a room with a single bed. One bed for four people, what? Must be a mistake. Nope, they said that they had no rooms available with two beds. When I asked if they had extra cots that we could use, the hotel states that they were not available. I was absolutely furious about this, seeing as how I paid over $300 for this room, and now had to sleep in the same bed as another couple. When we arrived in our room, we opened the door without the key, as the key lock was broken. I called the front desk for extra pillows and blankets, and it took them over 7 hours to deliver them to my room. There was also dust on the windowsill when we arrived. The staff were polite but under no circumstances should a reservation for FOUR people be given one bed. This was a mistake that they made and refused to own up to. I will not be coming here again.
