I'll Come Back
We go to Manhattan frequently and have stayed in many hotels. This is the first time that we stayed at a Hampton Inn in NYC. I have certainly stayed at more luxurious hotels in the city, but this one was quite nice and a MUCH better bargain. The room was clean, up-to-date, and quite comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a really nice bonus and it was quite good - a substantial breakfast and not just donuts and coffee. It is right next to Herald Square and thus a short walk from Times Square. It is close to major subway routes. It is a short walk from Penn Station. I have nothing bad to say about the place and plenty of good. My epxerience at this hotel was a completely positive one. I would not hestitate to stay there again.

pleasant staying
that's great of the location which hep us to walk to our customers' office even though the small room and simple breakfast. To assure the timely arrving to the airport, it's good that we could make reservation of taxi in the front desk.

Nice hotel
Very pleased with choise. Good location. Nice breakfast buffet included which saves you money in your NY stay. Helpfull staff. One of our suitcases broke a handle while in storage waitting for chek in. The manager took charge and had a new suitcase sent to our room the next morning, that's good service. Rooms are comfortable for a relatively small hotel.

Very Disapointed
Was excited to stay here with my family as I heard good things from a friend who stays here when he is in NYC. Good Location and good price for this time of year. Problems started as soon as I arrived. Waited 20 minutes to check in as there was only one person at the desk and the person in from of me was checking in a high school group. The room is listed as non smoling but as soon as you walk in room 1304 you can tell many people have smoked in there. The room was DIRTY. Hair on the bathroom floor, in the tub, paper on the floor behind the bathroom door. Ther was a broken childs toy on the floor and a soda cap on the floor between the beds. I think all they did was make the beds and put in fresh towels. I complained to the front desk and was told the manager would call me. 3 days have passed and nothing. Better hotel next door for a similar price.

Great Location
Except for the great location, which is central to everything, I would call this hotel average and overpriced. In Florida where I live, I would pay 1/3rd for the same hotel. But from my research, Manhattan is just plain expensive so I sucked it up. It was clean enough. Thin walls..could hear doors slam and people talking like they were in the room with you. Tiny room that could barely fit the king size bed, but they say that is normal for Manhattan a well. Decor was average. No real frills in this hotel. Never made it to the free breakfast after staying out late. Front desk staff was okay. There was a room mixup the first night but they fixed it for the second night. Still, I made the reservation 3 weeks earlier and it should not have happened. Management said they would take care of me but I am still waiting to see if they compensate me for the inconvenience and let down on my birthday. Didn't really find anyone in NYC overly friendly. And that view of the Empire State building is NOT that great....
