great design hotel. OK location

Hotel feels brand new and has a modern, edgy theme to the rooms. Unfortunately, our room was not ready when we arrived at noon, but that's luck of the draw. It's not like staying in Times Square, so mostly you'll be catching a cab or subway to get you where you want to go. Young, energetic staff at the front desk. Couldn't manage to print a boarding pass for our onward journey, but there's an app for that.

Gansevoort Park Hotel - NYC

Our stay at the Gansevoort Park Hotel was fantastic. The room itself was stunning and clean, and we were very comfortable there. The bed was comfortable and the oversized bathtub was heavenly. The neighborhood around the hotel is safe and easy to navigate, and the hotel staff was very helpful. The 28th St Metro station is less than a block away, so the entire city is easily accessible. I would have given this hotel 5 stars if it were not for the fire alarms malfunctioning one evening while we slept. It was a false alarm, and somewhat of a rude awakening. The staff handled it quickly, however, and we were able to get back to sleep.

Nice Stay

Nice size room for NY. Comfy Bed. Unfortunately, we did not have a room with a good view, but it was the Superior I believe which is the lower category. Very nice staff, taxis easy to catch outside, subway station across the street. Rooftop bar ok, 3 glasses of wine about $60. Had room service breakfast which was just ok also, $80 for 2 people. Did not eat at the "Asselina"; the hotel restaurant but it looked lovely.

Across the street is a Starbucks and a small market that has snacks, buffet bar, sandwich & soup bar, groceries... Was great. Also, great bistro around the corner called Meli Melo.

The location was great, close

The location was great, close enough to walk in most cases but if not a subway station is right there. The hotel is new and beautifully fitted out.

good, friendly service

I was in NY for business, but also accompanied by my parents, so needed a hotel that would work well for all our needs. I chose Gansevoort Park ebcause of its location and its pool. The hotel is geared for a younger set than my parents, but they were nonetheless very comfortable there because the staff is very courteous and friendly, not at all pretensious as one finds in some of the "hip" NY hotels today.

Great hotel

My husband and I were in town on business and wanted a nice hotel for our "off times" and the Gansevoort fit the bill perfectly. After a small problem checking in (they didn't have our reservation - so it was good I had my email print out and confirmation number) we got into a nice room with two queen beds - not my request. They promised to move us the next day. In the mean time we enjoyed the room (375 sq.feet) with a fantastic bathroom and tub. We were disappointed with the Plunge Bar the first night -- service was awful and the girl waiting on us was rude but it was better on subsequent visits (and different waitresses). The location was perfect for us as we had meetings in Gramercy Park. On Friday they moved our room as promised and it was exactly the room I originally anticipated -- a deluxe king (375 sq.feet) with a sitting area and a large floor to ceiling window. A great big flat screen tv and full bar in the room as well. We needed to head uptown for dinner and a show on Friday and had the pleasure of riding in style in the hotel's gold porsche - gratis! Oh - and because their restaurant wasn't open we got vouchers for continental breakfast upstairs in the Plunge Bar each morning. All in all - the hotel is great and we'll go back. The beds are fantastic - great sheets, great mattresses and pillows and the best bathtub we've had in any hotel.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We got in late on the first night (after 11pm on a Thursday) and the concierge sent us downtown a few blocks to 21st Street to L'Express a 24 hour french bistro. Had drinks and appetizers in a fun busy atmosphere. Our waiter was terrific and it was the perfect end to a long day of traveling.
