Cool Hotel...Not Functional
The hotel itself is trendy and the staff was friendly, but we were VERY disappointed with the room overall! The room is extremely small, there were no drawers in either the room or bathroom to put our stuff away and the closet was VERY tiny! The sink looks cool, but as a female it was extremely frustrating to get ready because there's no space to put things down. The shower/tub is poorly designed...even though we pulled the curtain closed, when you get out of the shower there was a HUGE puddle of water on the floor! The height of the toilet is kind of strange...when you sit down your feet dangle because it's so tall. We will visit NYC again, but we wont be staying at the Dream!

Dissatisfied DREAM Guest
Dream into Nightmare!!!
Although the accommodations at the Dream Hotel was small, it was adequate and in a great location. However, a stained towel was a turn-off. It's very trendy and has a vibrant atmosphere in the evening. Staying at a hotel is not only about the amenities, but also about the experience. While the day began beautifully like a "Dream", the night ended on a sour note, like a "Nightmare"! The huge downside was that Hotel Guests are not treated appropriately by the "Doorman" (Alex) for access to the Penthouse lounge area. The requirements for access to the Penthouse Lounge are not clearly communicated nor applied fairly among guests. It's purely based on whether the "Doorman" feels like letting you in who by the way was very disrespectful and also made threats to hotel guests. Not a great way to end the evening! Although a complaint was lodged at the hotel that evening and the following morning, no credible recourse or action was taken. Hence, it fell on deaf ears. While the Penthouse Lounge is managed separately from the Dream Hotel, executives of the hotel should know how their guests are being treated by employees of their partner, Penthouse Lounge. Such behavior can only be bad for business. For my next stay in NYC in the same area, I plan to try the Gansevoort Hotel which is right around the corner from the Dream Hotel. Again, it's all about the experience!!!

Disappointed
Front desk was extremely rude, and not at all helpful in fixing a booking mistake (on their side). Decor was geared more towards dreamy than functional. Location was perfect, and the lounge upstairs was fun... I will not be staying here next time. There are better places very close that actually treat you like a customer.

Hotel was a some what dream
I stayed at the new Dream Hotel Downtown. I must say for the 6 weeks it has been open it was lovely. It is in a GREAT area the meat packing district and was young, fun and hip. The pool reminded me of a Miami pool which I loved and was very relaxing. The staff was on it at the pool area!! The rooms are small but great! I didn't love the shower (water pressure terrible) and the mechanics of the room still need to be worked out, but all in all you def want to stay at the DREAM Downtown for a nice getaway to NYC. Another aspect that I didn't love is that if you want to go to the lounge (and you are a hotel guest) you would have to wait in line. Which makes no sense-they should at least have a priority system going on for hotel guests at least if we are paying that much money you should be able to have some sort of jump of the line pass or priority over local customers who go to lounge. All in all, I LOVED this hotel and it is a must to stay there if you are in NYC or planning a fun little vaca to the city for 4 nights or so.

Disappointing for the price
The atmosphere is awesome at this hotel. Great if you want to hang out at the bar/lounge and have cocktails. Very nice and modern feel to it. Down side, the room was disappointing for the price. Dirty area rug and smelt like urine. They are under construction so expect to hear noise from that. Not a lot of room which is expected for a NY hotel. It is located in a nice part of town. Walking distance to resaurants, quick cab ride to times square, central park...Its great hotel if you want a pricey place to party and dont care what the room is like. Personally, will not be repeating my stay here.

Not as great as it claims
Room was worn and bed just OK. Tiny rooms and industrial chic look. Hotel is really trying to be cool but rooms are OK - what was great was the windows and view - stunning. But the reason to stay here would be to club and try to be "somebody"

Perfect in almost every way
when I arrived at the hotel I had a grin from ear to ear that I could not for the life of me get off my face. I hit the pool first thing just to relax and have a couple drinks. I was giggling like a school girl as I called one friend after another to describe the amenities and decor. it was like a little piece of Miami or Vegas right in the city. enough bout that. the location couldn't have been better. right around the corner from meatpacking hotspots. the staff was excellent - polite, friendly, down to earth. One HUGE complaint...if you need to take a nap during the day, forget about it. For 3 hrs straight tried t get a nap in so I didn't fizzle at night but no such luck. Doors on my floor were slamming every 3 minutes...no exaggeration. Believe it was the cleaning staff going from room to room. the slamming sound was as loud as if it where my own door being slammed. The walls were paper thin. I could hear a conversation between two women in the very next room clear as a bell...no raised voices, just normal voices. I woke up the next morning about 930 to drilling (still under construction) and more door slamming. I opened my door and sure enough it was cleaning staff entering rooms and just letting the doors slam shut. Didn't mind the sound of vacuums or the drilling, but the door slamming must be fixed. I would stay there again, but will have to understand that a nap is out of the question.

Chic Hotel
It will remind you much of the Gansevoort. Contemporary, trendy, stylish. The rooms were very comfortable. The Lobby/Marble Room area is fantastic. PhD has a great view of the city, but very pricey drinks with an uninspiring dj that caters to the decadent, meatpacking type. Great hotel, but avoid the rooftop.
