PURE allergy-friendly rooms are a draw for travelers with allergies or asthma. PURE rooms are cleaned with anti-allergy cleaners and have improved air quality.
Features

Renowned modernist architect Morris Lapidus originally designed the hotel. The hotel was designated a historical landmark in 2005. Marilyn Monroe made history here in 1955 while filming for the "Seven-Year Itch." Monroe was posing in front of the hotel when a gust of air from a subway grate blew up the skirt of her white halter dress.

Overall, the stay was comfortable. Great lobby with a small bar. The rooms lacked a bit of sound proofing. You could hear absolutely everything in the hallway. Very little sleep was had due to incredibly loud ladies along the hall.

Need More Sleep
Construction
Hotel was being renovated. Usually a great hotel for the money. Did not seem to care that sleep was disrupted due to construction noise. Would not extend check out time due to renovations. Right thing to do would have been an upgrade, refund, or both.

same room i stayed in 20 years ago
I only stayed one night and didn't get the opportunity to review the amenities or the staff. The location is convenient for restaurants and bars in any direction. A15 min walk to Central Park or Times Square. The room was old and needs updating. The heating/a.c. only works in one way. I was their on a warm night in the winter and could not cool the room off. The price was good and i had no bad experiences. Lobby staff seemed efficient and warm.

Great hotel in Manhattan
In the city on business but also to catch up with friends. Hotel location is fantastic for both. Great neighborhood and the subway is literally 10 steps away from hotel entrance. Restaurants, coffee shops, and stores a plenty. Hotel is clean, well staffed by friendly and helpful people. Good clean rooms with more space then one would expect in central Manhattan. At night the area has a neighborhood feel and quietens down. No sirens and car horns to be heard! Recommend to business travelers but also good for families.

Short walk from hotel
Use the subway which is a few steps away from the hotel entrance. The subway lines here get you to all the hot spots within 2-3 stops either uptown/downtown or cross town.

Good Location, Ordinary Rooms
This hotel was in a great location for visiting all the Midtown sights, but really nothing special about the hotel. Rooms were small and a bit dated. But you have to love the free cookie on check-in! If you can get it for a good rate, it isn't a bad choice.
