Excelent room, hard to get to it
Great location, near many important subway lines and in the heart of downtown. Great room, extremely comfortable bed. However, the hotel has 40 floors with about 10 rooms each - and only 3 elevators - and there was a day with only one working! The waiting time to leave the building was over 15 minutes - and for two times I have chosen to leave the hotel (my room was on 29th floor) via the staircases (about 500 steps). Besides that, on the first day the water heating system wasn't working - what made me ignore the over 20 hours of traveling time and take a bath only the day after (since it was really cold that day).

Relatively inexpensive, but with some shortcomings
I booked this hotel because I was attending a conference at the Ritz Carlton around the corner and this was half the price. It is a little confusing getting into, because the registration desk is on a different floor than the front door, and it took us a few minutes to figure out how to find it. The room was typical Manhattan - tiny. But it was well appointed and clean. The bed was a couple inches too short for me (I'm 6'2"), so my feet were jammed into the covers at the end of the bed. Bell staff was helpful. Room service, on the other hand, missed my breakfast order. I had an early television interview to do, so I requested the earliest possible delivery time. When there was five minutes left in the time frame, I called downstairs to ask if it was on its way. They told me that I had neglected to put the room number on it, so they didn't know where to bring it. How they knew it was my order I was calling on is therefore a mystery. As soon as I hung up, the phone was ringing and it turned out to be another room service staffer telling me I had neglected to put the time frame on the order ticket. I guess the room number was right after all. Whatever. I am sure I completed the order, because I knew I had a small window of time and wanted to get it as early as possible. I managed to do the interview I was going to on a couple cups of coffee I had after arriving at the conference where the interview was taking place. Besides that, the facility was modern and pleasant enough and it was located conveniently.

Great location, good experience
Not even a full block from the South Ferry/Whitehall and Bowling Green subways, very easy access to transportation. Heat did not work in room but staff took care of. A little bit of construction noise from the street but not bad. Nice room, a little small like you would expect in Manhattan. I would definitely return here.

Nice well located friendly hotel
I stayed one night, the room was clean and welcoming and the staff were attentive. They offered me the hotel car to take me to JFK at a cost of $65 and I was a bit concerned that because I refused they would not help me get a taxi. As it was they were most helpful - taxi cost $50.50. Good value at weekend, more expensive during week.

Good value for the money
The hotel is in a good location and the staff is very helpful. Rooms have good amenities. Space is a little tight, but no where near others that I've stayed in.

One day visit to NY
It is a nice hotel very small but for the price it is probably just on the mark. I liked the location bc we were close to the financial district and we are tourist so we got to see that part of town.

great city stay in financial district
Nice stay and close to so many subway lines. Staff is helpful (with bags and such) and always available; and best of all is the room is so clean and properly decorated. Plus point: doubletree offers a warm free welcome cookie at check-in! The business center in the lobby has great free internet, should you choose not to get this in the room.

Comfortable Stay
Everything about the hotel worked. Parking is directly across the one-way, one lane street. It was easy: drive in, get a ticket, and the lot attendant parks the car. The hotel doorman greeted us and explained that check-in is on the 2nd floor and directed to us to the elevator. Check-in was quick with no lines. The room was quiet and comfortable.

The tavern next to the hotel has a tasty brunch on Sundays for $15.95 including a drink.
