Rather trashy
Bathroom had an unpleasant odor, loose tile inthe tub surround , frayed carpet in the room. The bed was OK.

I've read other people's reviews about this hotel and booked it hesitation. The good: low price, right next to the subway The bad: old,dirty carpet, wallpaper peeling off,basically the whole room looked really old and beat up. The wifi was painfully slow. I'm guess I'm lucky I didn't walk away with bedbugs and weird extra charges and whatever other weird things that might happen there. Bottom line: You get what you pay for, and in NYC that is especially true.

Functional Base
The hotel is generally a bit tired and needs investment, but the top 2 floors (11&12) have been refurbished so our room was ok - small but ok. Elevators are very slow and creaky, and the tv picture in the room was unwatchable as the signal was so poor with limited channels. Good access to subway, so ideal base for sight seeing, but don't plan to spend too much time in the hotel itself.

The hotel has a good location. Close to everything. The televisions were old and need of updating. Otherwise doe the money was adequate.

We stayed only one night. Location is great (close to Central Park, subway 1,2,3 and a lot of restaurants, cafe around. The hotel is ordinary. The room was correct except noisy (3rd floor) and some details else (tv remote control didn't work, the shower was blocked on a very powerful water flow...). The staff could be more friendly... Thus, really disappointed for the price we paid.

Big Apple Bash
If you are on a budget, or want to save money for the sights; this is a great place to stay. Not far from Central Park, plenty of little Upper West Side shops around, and subway access less than a block away. What more can you ask for.

Good Value and Location
Nice clean hotel close to subway that takes you right to midtown or downtown. The not so good... There didn't seem to be any heat in our room (30 degrees fahrenheit outside) however we were comfortable enough (i prefer a cool room for sleep). TV remote didn't work, I left a note for housekeeping, it was ignored. Soda machine and ice machine on our floor were both out of service. I can live with all of this. The great... Everything else was great though, snagged a great deal (especially after a disappointing experience with another website) Room was clean, beds were super comfy! Several restaurants within walking distance. Subway right across the street! I would book this hotel again.
