Best Location

While in general most reviews were good, some were not so we were a bit nervous. No need to be! The rooms are small BUT the ceilings are so high that it makes it feel larger. AND you are in Manhattan, so you should spend the least amount of time in your hotel room. Once you get past the room size, It's a great value. Perfect location. 1,2 & 3 trains on the corner and the ACEN &R close by. Starbucks downstairs. Bagel place across the street. Soft Sheets and I have to say probably the softest towels. Comfy Bed. flat screen TV and Nice, well appointed bathroom( albeit small) For under $200 a night in Manhattan. Find something better then this!

A cute place to stay

There was a chance of me getting a loft room and I was a little worried about it. But when I got the loft room and was in it, it was so adorable. The only thing that sucked was that the TV didn't have many channels and after a long day walking around the city, I found myself lounging more downstairs then up by the bed because I didn't want to climb the stairs. But everyone at the hotel was nice and it was a fun place to stay.

Great Little Room in NYC Financial District

The Cosmopolitan turned out to be a nice little place in a great part of town. Do make sure to ask for a room in the back of the building. When I first arrived I was given a room on the 2nd floor just above the street. I know it is New York, but the voices comding from the street made it feel like these people were sharing my room. When I called to ask for another room, I was quickly accommodated and moved to a room on the 6th floor in the rear of the building. Voila, perfecto. Just what I needed, a nice clean, quiet place so I could rest before my meeting a couple of blocks away in the morning.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Try Gigino Trattoria on Greenwich Street, an adorable little Italian place. An ample menu to choose from, nice atmosphere, and street tables if you like.

Forget about good nights' sleep

Hardly got any sleep! The room was noisy... AC was loud, with AC on, it sounded like a machine room. With AC off, the street noise was loud... ever heard of sound-proof windows for street facing rooms? I asked for another room, but was placed in a room a floor above with the same problems!

Great except for the construction outside

The Cosmo is in a perfect location, close to multiple metro stops to take you Uptown. The restaurant attached to the hotel had great food that was reasonably priced. The only bad part was the construction taking place outside that started at 7am each morning.

Great affordable place for a weekend stay in NYC

Aside from the elevator being terrible, this hotel is great. Compared to other prices around the city, it's a great value + rooms have their own bathrooms (which is a plus in NYC). Right next to a subway stop, and right next to a 24-hr convenience store. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Great base of operations for New York visit

I have stayed three times at the Cosmopolitan. It is within blocks of: Battery Park City, City Hall, World Trade Center, Wall Street, Ferries, irish Hunger Memorial, and on and on. The subway ( the A as well as 1,2,3) are within steps of the hotel door! Staff is unfailingly polite, helpful and welcoming. I have met people from all over Europe in the elevator (said elevator might be a weak point, but what do you expect in the oldest continuously operated hotel?) A real bargain.

Business trip

At the reception desk, at the check in, we were told that our room that was reserved got flooded, plus few other rooms as well. Barbara, did excellent job communicating between us and hotel manager, Josh, who was able to find us a room in another hotel. Unfortunately that hotel was on the oposite end of Manhattan. Hotel Cosmopolitan picked up our cab fare and negotiated same rate at Radio City Apartments. Following morning, Barbara called and notified that they found a room for us at Cosmopolitan Hotel. We returned, because this hotel was more convienently located where we needed to be. Graet staff, very professional
