Perfect Getaway
We could not have been happier with our stay at Chelsea Pines! All of the staff were warm, helpful and engaging. The room was comfortable and clean, and the attention to detail was appreciated, such as the white noise machine to block out any street noise. The location was perfect - around the corner from Chelsea Market, half a block from the the A,C & E subway stop, near the High Line, great restaurants and boutique shopping. We walked all over lower Manhattan from the hotel and took the subway right up to the theatre district to see a show. They also provided a lovely continental breakfast. A home run in our book! We'll happily stay here again and recommend to others.

Every bit as good as I had heard
I've been trying to book at this hotel for several years, but it's always been sold out. This time I went just before Christmas week, and I got lucky and got a great room on the third floor facing the front. Even though 14th Street is busy, and I'm a light sleeper, the room was always totally quiet. Bed was great, shower hot and strong, plenty of good soaps and shampoos. Not the Waldorf, but very comfortable. Rooms all decorated in original movie posters, pretty cool. Staff was always friendly and helpful, even late at night, and daytime staff gave me lots of information on local restaurants, bars, even a great list of places to go in Williamsburg. They even got me tickets to Radio City Christmas show, which was a blast! No hot breakfast, but pretty much anything you could want other than eggs (cheese, homemade bread, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, good strong coffee), and all included in reasonable nightly rate. Location amazing, what more could you want? Loved seeing the High Line and Chelsea Market, which were right down the street (so was the Apple flagship store). Glad I finally stayed there, and I'll be staying there again.

A very average experience
This B&B is pretty poor value, you can find much nicer 4 star hotels for the same price. The place is not bad but not that great either. Rooms are tiny and dark, and besides the movie posters decoration, looks like any regular highway motel. The wireless internet didn't work, and the breakfast consist of thin filter coffie, cerials, and bagels. The 3 different frontdesk personal I had contact with during my stay were all unfriendly and disinterested. The location is not bad and rooms are fairly quiet except for hallway noise.

We liked it
Outgoing and friendly staff greeted us. The rooms and decor are keyed to old movie stars and movies. Tasteful appointments in the small rooms. We really liked the bath sheet towels but there were no towel bars. Breakfast area though small was quite pleasant. We were visiting Brooklyn, Astor Place and Lincoln Center and the subway entrance was conveniently nearby.
